KUALA LUMPUR, April 3 — A Malaysia Airlines (MAS) flight from Kuala Lumpur to London was delayed by four hours today due to a technical malfunction.

MAS confirmed that the flight scheduled to take off at 10.10am was delayed to 2.15pm, to “facilitate rectification work” but declined to disclose the specifics.

The Malay Mail Online understands that the plane was forced to abort take-off and return to bay.

According to a passenger, who wanted to remain anonymous, the pilot announced that it was due to a technical trouble to one of the aircraft’s engines.

Further checks revealed that the precautionary measure was taken for the aircraft’s engineers to fix the problem.

“As safety of its passengers is of utmost priority to the airline, this retiming is necessary to facilitate rectification work on the aircraft,” said MAS media relations manager Khairunnisak Dzun Nurin, in a statement today.

The flag carrier is under the microscope after a Beijing-bound flight, MH370, disappeared on March 8 with 239 people on board.

On March 24, the flag carrier’s plane was diverted from its flight from South Korea to Hong Kong after an onboard power generator malfunctioned.

Three days later, its MH072 bound to Hong Kong was delayed for more than an hour after the operators were forced to swap planes due to a similar technical trouble.

On March 21, another MAS plane suffered damage when it hit a flock of ducks in Nepal.
