Chinese woman kills romantic rival by lighting her on fire The suspect accused the victim of splitting up her marriage before setting her on fire. A video of the grisly murder shows the victim collapse and die after losing consciousness in Kunming, China. A Chinese woman is accused of fatally setting her husband's mistress on fire before unsuccessfully attempting to commit suicide. The horrifying murder was captured on video and uploaded to the Internet, but the Daily News has decided not to include it. The suspect, identified as Shi, splashed gasoline on the victim outside a teahouse in Kunming, the capital of Yunnan Province in Southwest China, the Shanghaiist reported. The owner of the teahouse says Shi trailed the woman for a period before confronting her over the alleged affair. She accused the victim of seducing her husband and breaking up their marriage. The video appears to show Shi sparking the deadly blaze — nearly catching fire herself — before running away. Witnesses tried to save the woman, but there was no fire extinguisher around so they had to rely on water, the Nanfang news site said. The fire only grew in intensity. The victim screamed before losing consciousness and falling to the ground. She died on the spot. Her charred body was unidentifiable. The suspect reportedly drank pesticide, foamed at the mouth and used a knife to cut herself in a failed suicide attempt. She was rushed to a nearby hospital, according to the local media sites. "It's meaningless for me to live alone. I don't want to live," she reportedly said in the ambulance. One of Shi's friends said she had recently been complaining about the victim for allegedly ruining her marriage. She is in serious condition and under constant supervision. Police are investigating the incident. Video
