What is PDPA ?

PDPA is an abbreviation for The Personal Data Protection Act 2010 which regulates the processing of personal data by any business or individual who collects and processes personal data in their commercial transactions. The act protects the rights of businesses and their consumers in terms of personal data protection.

PDPA in Malaysia ?

The Personal Data Protection Act 2010 came into operation on 15 November 2013. The governing authority is the Personal Data Protection Commissioner under the Minister of Communications and Multimedia.

Currently, most internet businesses in Malaysia are still in the dark over the enforcement of the PDPA on the operation, principles and application of the act. They may be unaware that their online businesses do not comply with the PDPA.
