Pharrell Williams has given fans the news they've been waiting for after announcing details up his long-awaited new solo album titled 'G I R L' but the even better news is that it won't be a long wait to hear the record as it's set for release on March 3. The 40-year-old, who will be performing at the BRIT Awards in London tonight, shared a link to the pre-order page for the album on iTunes this morning sending his fans into a frenzy.  In a statement, Pharrell explained why he has chosen to release the album while also briefly touching on the title. “When Columbia Records presented me with the opportunity to make an album, three things came to mind,” the statement read. “One was the sense of overwhelming honour that I felt when I realised that they were interested in partnering with me on the album that I had always dreamt of making. Two, it would have to feel festive and urgent. And three, I instantly knew it would be called 'G I R L'. I hope you like it.” Pharrell released his debut solo album 'In My Mind' in 2006 and has maintained his music career working and producing for huge name artists such as Beyonce, Jay Z and Miley Cyrus. The album peaked at number three on the US Billboard Hot 100 chart and seven in the UK. So far, possible collaborations are yet to be announced for the 10-track album although his smash hit single 'Happy,' which was recorded for the Despicable Me 2 soundtrack, has been confirmed.  Along with the announcement, Pharrell released a promotional video which sees him surrounded by pretty model-esque women all wearing sunglasses. It appears it could be an emotional album for Pharrell who can be seen crying towards the end of the clip. The 'Get Lucky' hitmaker will be hitting the stage alongside Nile Rodgers at the 2014 BRITs tonight and will also be performing 'Happy' at the 2014 Oscars on March 2, the day before the album release, where it is nominated for the Best Original Song.
