desire is like fire

it started with a spark and end up in smoke and ashes. that is desire.

the world of the west today to my view is full of smoke and ashes.

Iraq is 'burning' and nobody noticed. They can see but they cannot understand. They see not with the humane side but they see with the ECONOMIC side. Burn it and later build new one..that is ECONOMY mentality.

the world today attached itself to ECONOMY side far far too long. it is the world of have and have not, the world of poor and rich , the lower and the higher , the knights and the beggars etc.

War is the weapon for barbarians, in fact it is their CIVILISATION, the only KNOWLEDGE they know. But today war is made  by ppl who claimed themselves as the ICON of today's world. War is crime in today's standard , it is the ultimate desire , from spark done by the foreign agents , ended up with smoke and ashes, Iraq is the best example.

notice what Gandhi said, CIVILISATION IS NOT ABOUT SELF INDULGENCE BUT CIVILISATION IS ABOUT SELF RESTRAINT.

beyond the issue of NEED, lies the issue of INDULGENCE. Look around you, ipod, ps2, nice clothings branded cars etc. What are they? Little wonder ppl of Bolivia is much happier than ppl in London, why? Because material gains and happiness has its 'point' of maximum. Up to some point, more material gains wont bring added happiness, we call it the point of NO RETURN

siddarta said that desire is the cause of suffering.......

Look back.... 20 years ago.. are we happier than we are today?
btw.. hope I am not going back too far... are you over 20?

the mega companies are controlling our desire... they know what we want and they take advantage...
these are the few types of pleasures that typical human would want.....

physio-pleasure
where the colour, shape, sound, material of the product interest the user.......

pysco-pleasure
wher the products accompany user when he/she is happy or sad....
e.g. people play game to release stress

socio-plasure
you belong to a certain groups if use the product....
like Benz makes you belong to the rich and famous

ideo-pleasure
the products makes you be a sort of characteristic person......
like a classic bag makes you a kind of person that has taste and class and mature

we... malaysians are too materialistcs.......

the british.. even now still using nokia 3310....

what will typcial malaysia say if you still use nokia 3310?

Uhmm.... your definition of "desire" is a bit different from mine ..
I am still using the same handphone after 5 years (dah teruk dah hp tu ..tunggu "dead" baru beli baru)
I am still using the same pencil case after 9 years (dah comot giler dah pencil case tu ..tak terpikir pun nak beli baru)
I dont really buy clothes that much,
neither do I buy expensive handbags nor shoes nor makeups ...
BUT ...
I did allow myself to buy a watch yang dah lama kiter dok pandang pandang ....thus, this is when I "desire" for something ..
and err, I believe the term "desire" pun applicable to guys/gals yang kiter dok pandang pandang as well?

Desire is also a way to progress.
We desire comfort and satisfaction in materialism.
There will be no life if there is no desire.

Desire is inherent in human nature.

I believe, to have no desire is sinful.

You might as well be a vegetable. But that green vegetable also have a desire to grow.

People don't really want thing per se...

What they really want is the feeling, when they have that thing that they want.

Absolutely. To me that is what that differentiates us human from say, the angels, and you know the rest of course.
I reckon it is vital to life on earth and to those who have found out their purpose on earth, I bet desire is indeed an important factor.

In a nutshell, desire or even need is the mother of invention. To some, they create the need/desire to achieve their goals. As a moral person, we are supposed to keep desire in check.... keep it within our own means. Some inventions progress by leaps and bounds ......... testimony of the ability of the human mind. Sometimes maintaining the old stuff can become economically unsound. I am no brand conscious person. I buy only stuff that I need. I am not a travel bug either as I am usually choosy about food, for example.  Such so called physical comforts may actually abberate the true desire that we all should have...............ah, that is for everyone to work  it out! That's another day's scribblings.
