The Lost Gold Coin

There was a man who lost his gold coin in the forest. But instead of searching for it in the forest, the man went into his backyard, and searched for his lost gold coin, there. His neighbour asked, "Why didn't you search for your lost gold coin in the forest?"

The man answered, "Because it's dark in there..."

How many of us have lost our gold coins in the forest and searched for it elsewhere? Almost everyone has skeleton in their closet. Each of us have dark memories that we have tried to bury deep down inside our soul. How many of us, have the guts to come face to face with our demons? Almost all of us, are afraid to. We prefer to pretend that we are alright. We pretend that we don't have any unfinished business in our hearts. We are too afraid to delve deeper, because 'it's dark in there...'

Have you, for once, stop, and search for your lost gold coin, in your heart?

i did..my sisi gelap yang i tepakse bgtau my bf.die ok saje n ley terime..n die pon bgtau bout his dark past..i xley nk marah,it is fair as well..skang samne2 da insaf..betulkan sume yang salah salah dulu..rase lega je..

skeleton in the closet is something that we kept hidden from the rest of the world

be it a bad past, a bad memories, something we do not want to share with others

while it's good to hv some secrets to ourselves, be very careful that what we kept hidden is not something so dark that , by keeping it
locked away, it can still hv some influences in our daily live

Skeleton in the closet means, 'Sebarang skandal yg kita sembunyikan daripada pengetahuan org lain...'
Tapi ia juga boleh jadi sebarang rahsia gelap yg mungkin sukar diterima oleh kebanyakan org sekiranya mereka mengetahuinya...

Contoh : Seorang lelaki yg disangka straight, tapi dlm diam sebenarnya ialah seorang gay...

hmm, why the need for the man to spend his precious time searching  for the lost gold coin , in life what we have lost we better let it be , we better not spend our present life searching for the things that we have lost in the past , because of the fact that what have gone from us are meant to be that way , so its better for us to accept that fact and move on , since every second of our life that got wasted is similar to us losing a gold coin.

By my statement above , I didn't mean that whatever precious belonging that we have lost in the near distant past we should never ever attempt to discover it back, we should make the effort of course provided that its valuable enough but after all attempts failed then we need to accept the fact that its gone for good and move on . Of course for parents who have lost a child let's say to a kidnapper , then understandable it is hard for the parents to accept the fact and move on if the child has not been found yet even after so many attempts made to try to find the child back safely , that's when "redha kepada takdir Allah" play a big role in stabilising back the emotions of the parents and get them to move on even though its difficult .

But what ever that we have lost that has become a history in our life  , then we really do need to forget it and move on , never ever entertain the what ifs that may flood our mind or else we will end up spending our present life in regrets and spending our present time wastefully trying to rekindle the past .

I think you have misunderstood the story. In this story, the gold coin does not refer to something that we have lost, but something deeper than that. It actually refers to something that we are too afraid to come face to face with. Probably i should have explained about it in the 1st place - my bad. Let's have a scenario, shall we?

You probably have a friend who likes to flirt around. She/he never gets serious in any relationship. He/she moves on to the next victim, once he/she has been able to conquer his/her target. And you wonder, why this friend behaves this way. You start to ask around. Eventually, you found out, that many many years ago, your friend was a victim of the same pattern, done by someone else with whom he/she fell madly in love with. So in order to avoid feeling all the pains inside, he/she, behaves the same way, and leaves the relationship behind, because he/she does not ever want to get hurt again, in case he/she falls for anyone, once again...  He/she is AFRAID of feeling the pains and sorrows and hurt...  It is too damn painful, that she/he is more willing to bury the pains inside, rather than come face to face with his/her sufferings...

You probably know someone like this. Or maybe you are this person. This is only one small example of many. But the point is, will you ever be strong enough, to face your own demons? Or perhaps you prefer to bury everything deep down in the dark forest, and continue searching for your gold coin in other places?

Did you mean to say that happiness can only be found if one is willing to accept one's past suffering or fear ?

In my opinion happiness can only be found if one is able to forgive and forget the suffering that one's gone thru in the past . We learn from our past , but we must not let our past hamper us in any way , and to keep digging for the suffering that we have gone thru in the past will not bring happiness in our life , it will only open up old wound in our heart . Only God who can heal our emotional wound , only God who can bring real happiness into our soul , and to remember Him constantly is the only way we can heal completely , because God will remember those who remember Him day and night , meaning God will grant His help to those who completely surrender their heart and soul to Him , and those who receive God's help will not find past suffering or fear come haunting them back , since they are at peace with themselves , for they have succeeded to come face to face with who they really are , that is His most humble creation who are in need of His help at all time . That is the purpose of suffering , so that humans would realize that they are in need of God's help at all time therefore they would be humble and seek the right way which He has set for them towards achieving His help .

I mean opportunity in lives.

When you lost a gold coin, you don't have to keep searching for that specific one. The universe is not limited. Go get another coin. No worries.

Only thing is we must 'know' that this is so.

I found out that you can get happiness here, others can get it at other place, and so on and so on..

It does not really matter so...

Someone might want to get into law school, practise and open a firm. Get a trophy wife, big car, houses, etc. Thining he will be happy.

Then something comes. All plan comes to a halt. He might drop out. Get a plain girl next door wife. Get into business and, be happy.

No matter what he do, he is happy. It doesn't affect a thing.

how about being happy no matter what condition or situation one's in .... is it possible to achieve that kind of happiness ? ... That one's heart and soul can remain unaffected , one can have something or don't have something , one can get something or lose something yet one is still happy regardless . That's the kind of happiness that those who adhere wholeheartedly to Allah will be in , that's the real happiness that Allah will only grant to those who constantly remember Him day and night humbly and sincerely , the kind of happiness that depends not on any worldly possession  ... so how important is this kind of happiness ? Indeed there are many people from around the world who are suffering emotionally and mentally after having gone thru some kind of misfortunes or disasters resulting in the death of their family members or the lost of livelihood or worldly possessions , and many of them have opted the easy way out by committing suicide because they see no way out from the darkness of suffering that they have to endure , it is as if happiness could never come their way after such calamities . So linking one's happiness to any worldly possession is rather dangerous since one can lose it at any time .
