COPD sufferers have trouble breathing

Smoking is related to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, a lungillness which many may not be aware of.


WHILE smoking has always been associated with lung cancer, many maynot be aware that the habit is also the most common cause of anotherlung disease known as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or COPD.

COPDis not one single disease but an umbrella term which includes chronicbronchitis and emphysema. While patients can have either of thesediseases, both often occur simultaneously.

Those suffering from COPD experience chronic airflow limitation, shortness of breath, cough and increased mucus production.
Instituteof Respiratory Medicine director Datin Dr Aziah Ahmad Mahayiddin saysthe lack of awareness of COPD stems from misconceptions about thesymptoms as many do not feel they are serious enough to see a doctor.
揗ost patients do not complain or seek help. Sometimes they have cometo expect coughing and shortness of breath as something that comenaturally with smoking or ageing.

揥e also need more proactive physicians to actively screen patients, especially smokers or ex-smokers above 40 years of age.

kita baca banyak yang kata 2nd hand smokers teruk juga...tapi aku rasa COPD ni more to smokers.. sbb yang 2nd hand smokers tu bukan EVERYTIME inhale smoke from ciggy...  except kalu bila laki dok isap si bini dok terhegeh hegek nak hidu smoke tu.....  lain cita la...

so in short dalam opinion aku, aku rasa this is more to the smokers!!   ko rasa camne?

kalo tak salah, COPD neh, mmg lebih kepada smokers....tapi, tak memustahilkan utk non-smokers terkena....cuma chances pada smokers labih tgi....

aku kalau dh mls nk ckp, biarkan je dorang smoking..bile dorang dh stat batuk2 sgt, pdn la muke...  org ckp, die kate bebel..
