Trying to conquer the highest mountain in the world - Mount Everest, hundreds of climbers have lost their lives. Many people believe that Mount Everest is not only the highest mountain in the world, but also the most deadly when lifting. This is not the case. About 3,000 climbers have successfully reached the peak of Mount Everest, including 13-year-old blind child and 73-year-old woman, who this month has broken its own record for the oldest climber female. In this collection there are five mountains, which is believed to be more deadly for climbers than Mount Everest
1 Kanchenjunga, India 28.169 feet (585.9 meters 8)
Mountain climbers have tried to conquer
Kanchenjunga, the third highest mountain in the world for fifty years, but failed to reach its peak in 1955. Gore, who is famous for its constant avalanches and inclement weather, has no routes or paths. Mortality rates on the mountain since the 1990s has reached as much as 22%. Only 187 climbers were able to reach the summit of Kanchenjunga.
Two. K2 (Chogori). Located between China and Pakistan.
28.251 feet (8.611 meters)
K2 responsible for the death of one of four mountain climbers who get to the highest level. To win the holy grail of mountaineering - it means to deal with more steep, icy slopes more or less predictable weather than on Everest. Beginning in 1954 conquered the mountain 280. Since 1939 have been recorded dozens of deaths, most of which occurred during the descent. Mortality rates on the mountain since the 1990s, reaching 19.7%
Three. Annapurna. Central Nepal.
26.545 feet (8.091 meters)
Beginning with the first ascent in 1950, climbed on Annapurna just 130 people, and about 53 were killed while trying to climb back. This mountain is 10 th among the highest mountains in the world. But despite this, has a mortality rate of 41% (it's almost like a 50/50)
4. Nanga Parbat, and Kashmir.
26.657 ft (8126 m)
Gore has the nickname of "scavenger man." Nanga Parbat - the ninth largest mountain in the world. The wall of ice at its south side climbers hypnotizes from the first successful ascent in 1953. Gore managed to win 263 and 62 people were killed trying to do it. (Most of the deaths occurred before 1953). The mortality rate is 5.5% (from Everest 4.4)
Five. Eiger, Switzerland.
13.000 feet (3.962 meters)
Translated from the German, Eiger - means a man-eater. Mount Eiger is not the highest, but it did not stop her to get a reputation as one of the most deadly - dangerous mountains in the world. The most dangerous place here - "death wall", which extends 6,000 feet (2 kilometers). This gap is dangerous because it often falls to the blocks of melting ice, and therefore safer to climb during the coldest months. For the first time the mountain was conquered in 1938. Trying to conquer the mountain climbers were killed 64.
