The House with a Clock in its Walls is about a boy named Lewis (Owen Vaccaro) who goes to live with his warlock uncle (Jack Black) in a mysterious, magical house. In the trailer, Lewis meets the witch who lives next door (Cate Blanchett) and generally looks alarmed by his new living situation. It’s a children’s movie, but with Eli Roth (Hostel, Death Wish) directing, it will likely feature some unsettling moments. “There’s a clock in the walls,” Black says in the trailer. “We don’t know what it does, except... something horrible.”The movie also stars Kyle MacLachlan, Colleen Camp (Clue), and others. It’ll be out on September 21st, 2018.
The first trailer for Eli Roth’s The House with a Clock in its Walls was released today by Universal Pictures. The movie is based on the 1973 children’s book of the same name written by John Bellairs.

In the tradition of Amblin classics where fantastical events occur in the most unexpected places, Jack Black and two-time Academy Award® winner Cate Blanchett star in The House with a Clock in Its Walls, from Amblin Entertainment. The magical adventure tells the spine-tingling tale of 10-year-old Lewis (Owen Vaccaro) who goes to live with his uncle in a creaky old house with a mysterious tick-tocking heart. But his new town’s sleepy façade jolts to life with a secret world of warlocks and witches when Lewis accidentally awakens the dead.
Cerita nih target during musim Halloween and is based from children story book.
Unfortunately when plot is intro to movie version penyampaiannya agak messy.
Ada few scene yang agak unexpected frightening and it is a bit too dark for younger audience.
Perjalanan cerita agak kelam kabut, therefore overall storyline become confusing.
Bila dengar suara Cate Blanchett nih, the aura is always there.
But her role in this story macam tak brapa best.
Jack Black ok je…but he is less annoyed in this, compare to his other movie.
And for the child actor, he seems new…still need to brush up for his acting.
One of the children movie, you don’t really have to see.
Rating: 5.5/10
Cause mind you, this is under director Eli Roth. Yg memang suka buat crita ganas and this is his 1st direct of a supposed family friendly movie.
