First Man is an upcoming American biographicaldrama adventure space film directed by Damien Chazelle and the screenplay written by Josh Singer, based on the book First Man: The Life of Neil A. Armstrong by James R. Hansen.
The film stars Ryan Gosling as Neil Armstrong, alongside Claire Foy, Corey Stoll, Kyle Chandler, Jason Clarke, Shea Whigham, and Christopher Abbott, and depicts the years leading up to the Apollo 11 mission in 1969.
The film is set to be released in the United States on October 12, 2018.
"The riveting story of NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong and the years 1961-1969. A visceral, first-person account, based on the book by James R. Hansen, the movie will explore the sacrifices and the cost—on Armstrong and on the nation—of one of the most dangerous missions in history."

Ryan Gosling reteam for Universal Pictures’ First Man, the riveting story behind the first manned mission to the moon, focusing on Neil Armstrong and the decade leading to the historic Apollo 11 flight. A visceral and intimate account told from Armstrong’s perspective, based on the book by James R. Hansen, the film explores the triumphs and the cost—on Armstrong, his family, his colleagues and the nation itself—of one of the most dangerous missions in history.
If story based on biopic or actual event, it can be hard to review. Especially if we have to somehow understand a bit about the backstory on the said character or event.
But for this First MAN, I like Ryan Gosling. So biasedly I have always love his cool acting.
For the storyline, the era of this film is set during the 1960s. So background, setting and technology is the old school.
As we can see how Apollo mission started & what kind of training the astronaut have to went thru.
For the said character – Neil Armstrong, we somehow can learn about his personal life & career mission to the Moon with his team mates.
Recommended for those who like Space Mission and NASA stuff.
Movie is a bit slow thought, but some of the music score keeps u awake especially during the space mission.
My rating 6.5/10
Movie is based from book and director is Damien Chazelle who directs ‘La La Land’ (2016)
