Azalina: Action can be taken against fencer in assault case
KUALA LUMPUR: The Sports Commissioner and Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) can take action against the Malaysian Fencing Federation (MFF) and their athlete who allegedly punched a colleague.
Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said said that the Sports Commissioner had the power to act against the MFF if there were reports of abuse of power in the association.
She added that the OCM could take disciplinary action on the athlete, who has been listed for the Korat SEA Games in December.
揟he National Sports Council (NSC) director-general, Datuk Zolkples Embong, has briefed me on the incident and I am very disappointed because it involves physical assault and does not reflect the attitude of national athletes, |

Fencing: Fighting Malaysia take silver after shock win over Australia
By : K. Kandiah
MALAYSIA put on a stunning performance to upstage fancied Australia 45-26 to qualify for the women's epee team final of the 2nd Commonwealth Junior Fencing Championship at the Penang International Sports Arena (PISA) in Relau yesterday
However, the fighting Malaysian threesome of Nadzirah Mohd Adzeman, Ayse Nur Hikmet and Che Ku Nur Aida Che Ku Rahim found the English trio of Rebecca Jade Clark, Caitlin Chang and Corinna Lawrence too strong in the final.

Still, it was an improvement from the bronze Malaysia won in the inaugural edition in Chennai in 2006.
In the women's sabre final, the English team of Rebecca Hopkins, Rachael Lewis and Kira Roberts defeated Scottish lasses trio Louise Creechan, Alice Watson and Rebecca Carson 45-35.
