waa...siaan lak....
Biasa budak2 kecil je kena, tapi tak tau le kes bro in law ko ni....
pe pe pun, memang kena rujuk pakar juga tu....ada kes..sampai 10 thn, ada kes 2 3 bulan ok dah....tapi kalau dah age 20 tu...x tau mcm ner..

What is nephrotic syndrome?
Nephrotic syndrome is a condition marked by
* very high levels of protein in the urine, a condition called proteinuria
* low levels of protein in the blood
* swelling, especially around the eyes, feet, and hands
* high cholesterol |

What causes nephrotic syndrome?
Nephrotic syndrome results from damage to the kidneys' glomeruli梩iny blood vessels that filter wastes and excess water from the blood and send them to the bladder as urine.
When the glomeruli are working properly, they keep protein in the blood from leaking into the urine. Healthy kidneys allow less than 1 gram of protein to escape through the urine in a day. In nephrotic syndrome, the damaged glomeruli allow 3 grams or more of protein to leak into the urine during a 24-hour period.
As a result of this protein loss, the blood is deficient. Normal amounts of blood protein are needed to help regulate fluid throughout the body. Protein acts like a sponge to soak up fluid into the bloodstream. When blood is low in protein, fluid accumulates in the body抯 tissues rather than circulating. The fluid causes swelling and puffiness.
Nephrotic syndrome can occur with many diseases. In adults, the most common causes are diabetic nephropathy and membranous nephropathy. In older adults, the most common cause is amyloidosis. Prevention of nephrotic syndrome relies on controlling these diseases. Frequently, however, the cause of nephrotic syndrome is unknown. |

Complications of the Nephrotic Syndrome
-Increased cardiovascular risk
-Thrombosis and thromboembolism
-Increased risk of infections
-Protein malnutrition
-Iron-resistant microcytic hypochromic anemia
-Vitamin D deficiency and hypocalcemia
Home Treatment
People with nephrotic syndrome need to see a doctor and have their kidney function checked regularly. Children usually need to see a doctor more often than adults do.
Take all of your medicines, even after you begin to feel better. Contact your doctor before stopping a medicine if you develop side effects.
If you are taking medicines for another health problem, you may need blood testing to see if you are getting the correct amount of medicine. Make sure your doctor knows about all the prescription and nonprescription medicines that you are taking.
You may help reduce symptoms of nephrotic syndrome and prevent other health problems by:
* Reducing the amount of salt you use, which can reduce the amount of water your body retains.
* Choosing foods low in fat, which can reduce the amount of cholesterol and triglycerides in your blood.
* Following your doctor's advice for the amount of protein you need in your diet. It may be a good idea to avoid eating a high-protein diet. But eating a low-protein diet is not usually recommended, because you may not get enough nutrition.
* Weighing yourself each day to check for an increase in your weight, which may be a sign that you are retaining fluid. Call your doctor if you notice you are gaining weight or if you develop other problems, such as difficulty breathing.
* Practicing good skin care to prevent additional skin problems, such as skin infections.
You may need emotional support during treatment for nephrotic syndrome. If you or your child has nephrotic syndrome and you are having a hard time handling treatment or the severity of your child's condition, talking with a doctor or seeking counseling may help. |
