APEX UNIVERSITY - R&D

salam semua

I should congratulate USM on their recent  success / achievement in acquiring THE APEX UNI status.

Tahniah USM atas kejayaan pemerohan status APEX UNI

dengan ini juga digalas tanggungjawab untuk memajukan R&D  dan sebagainya

dan dengan menjadi APEX uni ni maka sesuatu UNI itu akan diberi perutukan yg tak kurang banyaknya
dan juga autonomi untuk

1) student selection
2) "hired" and "fired" those incompetent etc etc
and etc etc

so my question is

a) sejauh mana dengan penarafan ini akan membantu  meningkatkan profail IPTA di Malaysia
b) apakah kayu pengukur  yg dijadikan pandauan untuk menentukan  instiutusi terpilih ini  sentiasa berada di tahap "par execllence"

apakah pendapat kalian?

Apex is basically an acronym for this phrase - Accelarated Program for Excellence ( APEX)
and to acquire this so called "APEX status, a particular higher learning institution of interest must already "perceived" to fulfill several selection criterion that would give some insights into their commitment to achieve par excellence standard in academics, research and etc. This assessment was carried out by an independent body which responsible in probing, interviewing students, academics & other uni staffs on their perception of certain issues, vision etc etc about their uni mission and vision and the already implemented policies executed by the universities in achieveing the goals. So, a particular university that has been granted the APEX status will eventually given several privileges like the autonomy to selecth the students, research funding etc etc...

And the government woudl want thsi uni to be one of the top ranking uni in the WORLD. So APEX is basically a platform given by the G/ment under the ministry of Higher Learning to u know prove, enhance and strengthen themselves lah in a way to achieve the very goal = to be one of the top uni in the world.
