Taiji Quan is Suitable among Youngs and Old, Do u Agree ??
A lot of my freinds will said to me, "Nelson , I think Taiji Quan is only suitable for Old People like my Farther and Mother.." a phase thats mean he did not know anything about Taijiquan.
Actually TAIJIQuan is Suitable for All Ages (not 3 yrs old la...) and All Races.. I have a friend who live at Damansara. He pratice Taijiquan for 5 yrs (He is a Malay Guy).
He said to me, he had some illness and doctor advised him to execise but he could not find a kind of Sports thats suit him.. Suddenlly, Just across his mind.. He was involved for 5 yrs..
Even that, Taijiquan is a Martial Art in ancient times until now.. We do pratice Tui Shou (Push Hand). a kind of pratice which involve Self Defence Technic..
So, What do you thing about TaijiQuan..??? Can Give Opinion.. |

Sorry to say your friends know nuts about Taiji Quan. Taiji Quan is divided into a few practices depending on the person objective.
Some practise for health, some practise for competition and some practise for martial art. Chan Style is more suitable for younger age as it involved explosive and dynamic movements. |

I agree..I Had learn Chen Sytle 4 yrs ago.. If you are saying like that .. I would say it is your opinion..Actually from what i had known.. Martial Art is Suitable for all age not only Taiji Quan.. But it is good to begin start from young age.
If you are saying that you just want to involved explosive and dynamic movements then there is others Martial Art with FEncy Movement and Explosive, Why you want to choose Chen Style Taiji Quan..???
Chen Sytle Taijiquan actually also require slow movement and a lot of inner energy practice..else how can it be Explosive..???? |

Chan Style has 2 routines. Routine 1 is slow and Routine 2 consists of fast and explosive movements. Not many elderly like to learn Routine 2. The sword style is fast too and does't look like Taiji and with explosive movements.
Competition Taiji is not suitable for elderly (beginners) as it requires jumping and squating with 1 leg. The New Chan Taiji (in China) in competition style now involves jumping and splitting. Therefore it is suited for the very young to start with.

Sorrylah ... never learnt before. I was once crazy about soft style martial arts. I learnt pushing hands and sticking hands only. That was many years ago. My sifu doesn't believe in form, so he teaches pushing hands only.
I know about Chen taiji because my friend is an assistant instructor to his sifu. His sifu was ''banned" from taking part in Chen Taiji competition because he had never lost in a competition. Whenever we met, my friend would talk about Chen Taiji.
That how I get my knowlege about it. |

He was not excaltly banned. He was told to give others a chance to compete and win. He was too good, class above the rest. That's why I wrote "banned". |
