i found something interesting, but in my opinion if Arthur is not such a turnip head and a bully, Merlin would've told him the truth in a heartbeat..ni dah la takder pendirian si Arthur tu, kalau Merlin kasitau pasal magic dia mesti Arthur tu meroyan sakan kat bapak dia..
Brace yourselves: incoming Merlin rant
Honestly it is so so not fair what they’ve all been doing to Arthur in this show. He is lied to over and over again, oftentimes only because those around him are acting out of self-interest, or out of the misguided sense that they know what’s better for Arthur than he does himself. It bothered me how even by the end of the first season Merlin chose not to tell him about his powers; Arthur trusts Merlin with his life, sticks up for him every single time Merlin does something ridiculously stupid (he even goes against Uther for him!), and never hesitates to save his life whenever he can. I understand Merlin is afraid that Arthur will go running to Uther, but that’s so not Arthur’s character I just want to scream at Merlin “TRUST HIM DUDE. HE’S LIKE YOUR BEST FREAKING FRIEND AND THE MOST MORALLY UPRIGHT CHARACTER IN THE WHOLE DAMN SHOW.” Then THIS cherry on top- Merlin and Uther teaming up to lie to Arthur about the circumstances about his birth! It is absolutely unfair. Of course, there’s totally an argument to be made that Arthur would’ve continued on his rampage, committed patricide, etc. etc., and I’m also not saying that Uther deserves death, but all of that doesn’t also mean that they have to lie to him in order to stop him. It’s so frustrating- Arthur is the most genuine and selfless character in the whole series (with maybe the exception of Gwen…which is why they’re so perfect for each other..but that is another ramble for another day) and the two people he’s closest to continuously lie to him in order to “protect” him. He risks his neck day in and day out for both Merlin and Uther, and still neither of them trust him enough to ever give him the truth. FRUSTRATING. |
