kalau nak tengok astro kat lcd kena beli svideo cable yang better sikit baru clear. tapi quality tak leh la dapat macam tgk dvd. sebab tu kat showroom kedai mana ada pasang astro kat plasma atau lcd kan.
tapi jangan tengok dekat2. dok jauh2 sikit bila tengok tv. sure puas hati. satu lagi yang best, make sure beli lcd tv yang ada pc input. pas tu guna wireless keyboard ngan mouse masa surf internet atau chatting. |

Saya tengok LCD TV ni ada jenis ... apa beza Contrast Ratio ni ...
ada 6000 : 1... ada 1000: 1 .... ada 800 : 1
contoh LCD TV Sharp
The elegant AQUOS |

Satu lagi ...LCD TV ni sesuai utk screen bawah 42 inc ....
Plasma lebih besar saiz nya ... paling kecil 42 inc .....
Plasma sesuai tgk DVD aje ... astro atau TV ..tak sesuai sebab contrast ratio dia tinggi sangat ...

PLASMA TV
PROS
~ good contrast and black levels (from Panasonic & Pioneer)
~ good response time
~ 'popping colours'
~ sizes up to 103" available
~ cheaper at bigger sizes 42" & above compared to LCD
~ looks bright under dim viewing conditions
CONS
~ susceptible to static image 'burn-in' in as little as 1/2 hour
~ dim under bright viewing conditions eg daytime viewing/living rooms lit brightly
~ prone to have pronounced dead pixels within 2 to 3 yrs
~ hotter and consumes more electricity than LCD of the same size
LCD TV
PROS
~ no image 'burn-in' (that's why all pc is using LCD instead of plasma)
~ sizes of of up to 82" is avalable though at CEA 2007 an 108" LCD is unveiled by Sharp
~ image looks 'popping' under bright viewing conditions...hence less eye strain.
CONS
~ response time not as good as plasma...yet
~ looks bright under dim conditions
~ blacks levels not as good as plasma, yet
Finally,
i would go with LCD as plasma has the biggest weakness...ie static image burn-in. This is not covered under warranty. If watching the average tv brooadcast with the channel logo remaining static for more than 30 minutes...good luck then..Also cannot use for pc as icons will also get burned onto the screen in the same timespan.
Just my personal opinion...so i'm willing to hear everyone's comments too. |

about Sony KF-50E200A PJ TV
Uses a projector bulb with 8000 hrs lifespan, however if the brightness and contrast is adjusted upwards (as the image looks dim), the lifespan may be shortened to around 4000 hrs. Then have to spend RM850 for a new bulb every year or so if watched 8 hours per day.
Max resolution only 1366 X 768. Not fully hd yet..
best viewed under dim conditions.
If the living room is big enough and the conditions are dim enough, i would suggest to go for a full projector as big screen is meant for watching movies (for a better impact)...not the average tv broadcast. Doraemon on a 50" PJ TV, anyone? Besides Sony has projectors capable of 1280 X 720 resolutions below RM5k.
Cheers... |

hi..you can find the Sony pj tv KF-50E200A at any major electrical shops eg Sony Centre.
Actually, if you are using lcd for Astro, the usual lcd tv minimum resolution at 1366 X 768 or higher at 1920 X 1080 tend to get blurry as the response time is slower compared to a plasma. Also there is a lot of artifacting as the lcd unit will need to rescale the Astro's PAL signal at a resolution of 576 X 720 (or somewhere around there) to fit the resolution of the lcd. Also if there is no actual scaling (pixel to pixel mapping), the lcd tv will have a big fat black border around the tiny video displayed on your lcd.
The plasma "seemed" to have a better picture if using a standard definition broadcast (eg Astro/dvd) as the resolution is lower for entry level models ie at 480 X 852. The trade off is that it will not be future-proof. You may need to upgrade to one that is HDReady if you want to enjoy high definition video now/in the future.
Also, most of us watch tv in a bright environment, either during daytime or with lights on in the evening. Have any of you tried watching your tv in the dark? For most of us, our eyes just cannot take the strain. Or sit in front of our lcd/crt monitors with all the lights turned off...how's it?
This is where lcd lives up to its billing as being able to display a very intense picture quality under bright conditions. Plasma loses a lot of its advantages under these conditions. If you don't believe me, try comparing a plasma and lcd side by side under the said conditions and you will see for yourself.
Plasma tv is based on phosphor technology, just like the flourescent lamps in our office/homes. Like the flourescent tubes, there is a certain lifespan with plasma as well as lcd.
Have any of us refill/change the gases in our flourescent tubes if they got burned out? I guess not. Nearly impossible and totally uneconomical. Plasma tvs can contain up to 9 types of different gases mixed at a certain percentage. When the voltage passing through those gases are slightly manipulated, the gasses will light up with different colours based on the voltage fed. The actual types of gases and their percentages are industrial secrets.
So, once the phosphor is burned out, it's time to get a replacement. But, don't worry as this scenario will take some time (around 3 to 5 years as long as the set is not abused).
And one last thing, Astro is "not clear" compared to dvd or HD video at the usual/normal resolution. A lot of movies/video on Astro has been scaled to fit fullscreen (4:3) format tv. The rescaling is terrible. Compared to vcd, Astro is really clear. It's all actually very subjective to the actual resolution of the video signal/input. Most of us would't enjoy watching a vcd quality video on our large tv (42" and above), right? Unless it's only available on vcd, sigh...
Thanks for reading.
Cheers

i have asked salesmen from harvey norman ikano and one LCD+Plasma shop at klcc..
regardless the budget and for the size of 42", both shops reckon for me to get Hitachi FULL 1080P PLASMA...
nothing can beat plasma full 1080p although lcd has launched the 100Hz.. still 100Hz LCD cannot beat Plasma 1080p..

couldn't agree more with you. in north america, consumer report still gives plasma the highest rating as the best flat panel tv, with panasonic th-50pz700u leads the pack. but, lcd is narrowing the gap quickly.
click consumer report on flat panel to watch the review.
