Her blog entry:
Good evening.

This is the scatterbrain news channel.
During the early hours this morning, singer Hamasaki Ayumi-san, in preparation for a recording session the next day, was just about to send the lyrics for her new song over to her director for copying. However, she deleted the lyrics by mistake, and a terrible fate has fallen over the world.
Ayumi Hamasaki took #1 on the charts this week with her 48th single, "MOON / blossom." It sold nearly 71,000 copies to become her 23rd consecutive number-one single (extending the record among solo artists) and her 35th in total (also a record among solo artists).
Kyosuke Himuro's new song was #3, while BREAKERZ landed at #5. Berryz Koubou was right behind them at #6. The other new releases in the top ten were Hexagon All Stars (#8) and a double A-side single from ryo (supercell) feat. Miku Hatsune and kz (livetune) feat. Miku Hatsune (#9).
On the album charts, YUI's "HOLIDAYS IN THE SUN" came out on top with 185,000 copies sold. This is her 4th consecutive number-one album.
AKB48 charted at #2 with their latest compilation. MONKEY MAJIK was #4, followed by a "Naruto" best album. ORANGE RANGE and Yuzu ranked #7 and #8, respectively.
In the DVD rankings, AKB48's "Nigashita Sakanatachi ~Single Video Collection~" sold 81,000 copies to rank #1, marking their first time on top of the overall DVD charts. The DVD also sets the opening-week sales record for a female group, previously set by Morning Musume in 2001.
Meanwhile, in the Blu-ray category, the just-released Blu-ray version of the Studio Ghibli film "Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind" sold roughly 20,000 copies. This is the first Studio Ghibli work to top the Blu-ray rankings. The film also opened at #1 on the videocassette charts in 1997 and on the DVD charts in 2003.
Hamasaki Ayumi has been a powerful influence for peer females not only for her music, but also her fashion, makeup and even her lifestyle itself.
As part of her countdown for the 50th single release, she just released the 1st of the 3 consecutive CD releases on 7/14/2010. This 48th single was a full-on, double-A CD with ‘MOON’ and ‘blossom’!!
This release was in 3 different editions in which each version has a different remix set of coupling tracks including ‘Microphone,’ ‘Don’t look back,’ ‘Last Links’ and ‘meaning of Love’ from the album “Rock'n'Roll Circus.” For the DVD in the 1st limited edition, the video clip and making-of clip of ‘MOON’ are included.

Hamasaki Ayumi Sets Record with Single No.50
October 05, 2010
J-pop queen Hamasaki Ayumi (32, profile) has set a new record for consecutive No.1 hits on the Oricon chart. Her latest and 50th single release "L" has topped the Oricon weekly chart, making it her 25th No.1 in a row, and breaking Matsuda Seiko's 22-year-old record. Ayu now holds sales records in seven different categories as a female artist (Rockers B'z top many categories as a group). She has the most consecutive chart toppers and the most Top 10 by any solo artist, and her other records include:
Most No.1 singles - 37
Most Top 10 singles - 48
Most consecutive years with a No.1 single - 12
Most million-selling singles - 5
Most singles sold - 21.38 million
Most singles/albums sold - 49.19 million
Hamasaki is currently in the middle of a seven-day concert run at the Yoyogi National Gynmasium. Commenting on the new record, she said, "It's a surprise and a huge honor. And it's all thanks to my fans. I want to thank all the songwriters, arrangers and all the staff who have worked with me." In the case of "L" her collaborator was Komuro Tetsuya (51). Currently rebuilding his career after a fraud trial, he has a strong track record and is the second-best-selling songwriter ever in Japanese music.
Just last week, Ayumi Hamasaki tied Seiko Matsuda for most consecutive number-one singles by a female artist. This week, she broke that record with "L," which sold 71,000 copies to become her 25th consecutive chart-topper.
flumpool took #2 on the charts with their "Kimi ni Todoke" theme song, followed by new releases from SID, Spitz, and S/mileage. Shunsuke Kiyokiba had the only other new single in the top ten, taking the #10 spot.
On the album rankings, JUJU's "Request" sold 129,000 copies to easily take #1. This is her first time to top either the albums or singles chart. It is also the first #1 cover album by a female artist since 2003.
KARA came in at #2 with their "KARA BEST 2007-2010," marking the first time that a Korean girl group has placed an album in the top ten. It is also the highest chart position so far among artists that debuted in Japan this year.
Other new releases on the charts this week were from Junichi Inagaki (#5), WEAVER (#6), and Base Ball Bear (#10).
Meanwhile, on the DVD chart, Korean boy band TVXQ occupied half of the top ten in the overall rankings. They simultaneously released "TOHOSHINKI History in JAPAN SPECIAL" and "Zoom Shika Shiranai Tohoshinki DVD," which respectively sold 63,000 and 53,000 copies to capture the #1 and #3 spots. At the same time, fans showed their support and pushed three older releases into the #4 through #6 spots. The last artist to simultaneously put five music DVDs into the top ten was Michael Jackson in 2009.
