[INTERVIEW] 140530 VIXX “FIRST ‘HUMAN’ CONCEPT, THIS TIME MORE TOWARDS THE PUBLIC”
VIXX, who have always had colorful comebacks and put a different meaning to ‘concept-dol’ and ‘fantasy-dol’, have come back this time as pure men in love in between time.
On the 29th, VIXX had their first comeback stage for the title song ‘Miracle’ of their 4th single album ‘ETERNITY’. With a song that showcases VIXX’s ‘patented’ fantasy concept well, the six members have created a balance between a difficult performance and sad yet chic facial expressions.
Fans have waited for VIXX for more than half a year. It was originally planned to come back in April, but in order to complete the album it was pushed back until the end of May. To this Ravi explained, “We were lacking in preparations, so the return would have been haphazard. We used the time well for this comeback in May, so that it’s complete.” Hongbin also said, Recently the members also have personal schedules, so that was another cause of the delay.”
Fortunately, VIXX’s long period of inactivity was forgiven by their awesome image as they once again return to the stage. Mysterious, dream-like, and sexy all at the same time. They express various charms in the ‘fantasy of time’. Especially with their tall statures, VIXX’s masculinity is emphasized with chic suits.
In regards to this N said, “It’s the clothes that fit us the best. Although there are some fantasy elements in ‘Miracle’, there hasn’t been a concept we’ve done where we were humans (‘Ready to Get Hurt’ was vampires, ‘hyde’ was Jekyll and Hyde, ‘Voodoo Doll’ was dolls). This time we’re trying to take a more public approach.”
He revealed, “VIXX has been doing maniac concepts, so through this promotion cycle our goal this time is for our music to be a little easier for the public to follow.”
After VIXX won #1 on a music program during their last promotion cycle, they received cell phones as a reward. Ken said, “The members all started having personal schedules, so we use it during those times.”
Hyuk, who went to film SBS ‘Law of the Jungle’ in Brazil last March, explained, “Our manager hyung told me to take my phone in case something might happen and then gave it to me. However the only numbers I have saved in my phone are the hyungs I met in the jungle. I didn’t meet anyone else. Since my life is in the practice room, everyone else is busy with their own things. I don’t have a close celebrity friend yet.”
Hyuk also confessed, “We got mixed into all different kinds of hardships in the jungle. It was really hard while we were filming, but now that I’m back it has become memories and I was proud. Sometimes I think about the time I spent with the hyungs.”
Leo has received favorable reviews with his challenge of musicals. For his last performance recently he showed a remarkable performance and tickets were all sold out. Leo was embarrassed being showered with praises and said, “I’m thankful. I will work harder,” showing a humble reaction.
To this, N said, “I was surprised because Leo sang so well. His role in the production holds a big weight, but since he immersed so well in it I was even more happy. Hongbin also explained, “I’m currently majoring in musicals at school, and there’s a rumor that my professor also complimented ‘Leo practices really well’. Leo hyung is really amazing.”
VIXX, who has been busy with their individual schedules as well as group promotions, also have their first solo concert in July up ahead of them. Ravi said, “I’m really happy that we have a lot of songs to show now. I want to show a realistic performance.” N expressed his confidence, “You’ll be able to feel how much we’ve all improved since before.”
VIXX will be holding ‘VIXX LIVE FANTASIA HEX SIGN’, their first solo concert since debut on July 19 and 20 at Olympic Hall in Olympic Park. After that they will hold their concert in Japan and are scheduled to embark on a full-scale world tour as well.
‘VIXX LIVE FANTASIA’ is VIXX’s ambitious global concert brand, where they won’t just be performing a list of songs but it will be the only concert where you can see an even more intense ‘concept’ that belongs only to VIXX.
