lagi satu watak hantu legenda ialah "green lady"..

kalo x silap hantu ni sedang mencari anaknya..

balik sekolah je, katil dah stretch..kain baju tersusun rapi..beruntunglah mereka..keh keh keh..

MCKK Perlu Kekalkan Kecemerlangan - Sultan Azlan Shah

(MCKK) di Kuala Kangsar, hari ini. Foto BERNAMA

Sultan Azlan Shah bertitah, sejak negara merdeka, agenda pendidikan sentiasadiberikan keutamaan kerana negara mempercayai kestabilan negara dapat dicapaidengan menambah nilai manusia melalui pendidikan.

- BERNAMA

MCKK memories endure forever
2010/08/17

The hallowed MCKK seen from the neighbouring Clifford School

IT'S very much like what the old song says -- you can check out anytime you like but you can never leave.
No, you can never leave the Malay College Kuala Kangsar once you have devoured the nasi kawah in its time-honoured dining room, gulped down the cups of tea served by the houseboys using those huge aluminium kettles, slept in its hallowed dormitories, showered in its creepy common toilets, stuffed in the cekodok Pak Arshad served in the tuck-shop, worn its recognisable all-white uniform, got used to the unrelenting sounds of its hostel bells and spoken its language.

Yes, too many reverberating images and enduring memories. But never enough of MCKK which has gone past its century. And what a generation it has produced. From the small class that led to its founding in 1905 to the present, the fully residential school is the epitome of education in its real sense -- where academic excellence comes with character building.

I was fortunate to be schooled there for seven years from January 1967. Those were the crucial years of growing up and when you were away from your parents and the comfort of your home surrounding for about 300 days in a year, just imagine how much the environment played a part in shaping your character and personality.

This also explains the bonding that remains among the old boys long after their schooldays. The old private jokes, the nicknames, photographs of the Big Tree, the Big School and the Pavilion, or the rehashed ghost stories about the Green Lady linger forever.

It was the everyday life that did it. We didn't have our parents to wake us up early for school. The hostel bell did it -- as it faithfully did to tell us it was time for prayers, breakfast, lunch, tea, games, dinner, lights out and, come fasting month, even sahur.

All the students had were each other (just about 600 of us in any single year), backed solidly by the constant line-up of wonderful teachers who, on looking back, must have been sent down from the heavens.

From the age of 12 or 13 we were taught to be independent beyond the normal classroom hours. Homework and revision were done earnestly during "prep" in the afternoon and after dinner each day.

Prep is short for preparatory sessions and for that, everyone had to be at their desks in their respective classrooms doing something productive. The prefects would supervise the prep classes but everyone took this seriously and you would have pin-drop silence all the time during prep.

It was also a reflection of the "study hard, play hard" protocol which required every student to be involved in sport and extra-curricular activities as well.

But above all, the teachers made a lot of difference with their dedication and commitment.

Most of them lived within, or not far from, the school compound, watching over us and guiding us in our after-school endeavours.

It was a heady mix -- an all-Malay, all-Muslim student population against a mainly non-Malay non-Muslim teacher lineup. But this was never a drawback. In fact it was not a conscious thing at all. And we still meet up with some of them to this day, almost 40 years on. But that's because we never actually left MCKK.
