my own opinion(why one piece is so HOT,good selling):
the story line is good because the script writer keep on providing the special ideas on special ability(rubber,ice,fire,flower,sand....) somethings like jetsu in naruto,if compare both of them,the story of naruto is around the JETSU and NINJA only,one piece is more than that like:
1.keep on traveling around the world(introducing the life stle of diffferent country by refering to national geography,or discovery chaannel,(arabian in Vivi's country,jurassic park,water city like venice....)
2.let us know about the basic knowledge:
cuaca,chemical exp....,surviving skills on sea...

naruto is focus on war between the country,jetsu(really impresive,if compare with one piece)rules of ninja(let audience know about the special ideas of explaining:what is ninja?)other than that...no ideas,for me naruto is about jetsu jetsu jetsu.........

even though the story of one piece is a little bit chilldish( more to 10-15 years old),naruto->14-22 years old),i thinkthe youths will buy one piece rather than naruto.
