I would have loved it if Arthur had fallen in love with the sweet, shy and bumbling Gwen of series 1 and she gradually changed into a confident person over 4 seasons. But Gwen suddenly turned into a stern matron type person in series 2, yelling at and scolding Arthur while he fell in love with her. Either Arthur has an Oedipus Complex or the Merlin people write the worst romance ever.
