Maestro Talent to cease from March 31
KUALA LUMPUR: Maestro Talent & Management Sdn Bhd, the talent management, recording and publishing arm of Astro, will cease operation on March 31
Since its establishment in Petaling Jaya in July, 2003, Maestro has been instrumental in promoting, identifying and nurturing young talents, among them Asmawi Ani (Mawi).
Headed by managing director Freddie Fernandez, the company is run by a team comprising 13 permanent employees and several contract workers.
According to sources, Maestro issued termination letters to its contract staff on Wednesday.
There is also talk that several Maestro talents from the Akademi Fantasia show have been offered a deal to be absorbed into Astro All Asia networks subsidiary, Astro Entertainment Sdn Bhd.
They are Mawi, Mila and Stacy, Farah and Dafi.
Mawi said he was shocked to hear the news.
"I was very upset when I was informed about it by Freddie (Fernandez) on Thursday," said the 27-year-old Mawi, who has just completed filming a KRU production, Magika.
He signed up with Maestro after graduating from the made-for-TV academy in 2003 and has chalked up album sales of 500,000 copies.
Last August, the singer-turned-actor renewed a one-year contract with Maestro.
The singer released his fourth solo album, Allah Habibi on Dec 28. It sold about 10,000 copies.
His highest selling album The Best of Mawi World, the compilation featuring his performances during his three-month stint at AF3 sold a staggering 260,000 copies.
Astro Entertainment Sdn Bhd executive director Zainir Aminullah said Astro was not issuing any statement on the issue for the time being.
Zainir and Fernandez have met with Maestro staff at its office yesterday.
Permanent staff were given six months salary with others benefits yesterday. |

KUALA LUMPUR: Ke manakah hala tuju artis yang bernaung di bawah Maestro Talent & Management (Maestro) diketuai Ketua Pegawai Operasi, Freddie Fernandez, apabila khabar angin bertiup kencang mengatakan syarikat pengurusan itu akan ditutup.
Syarikat itu menguruskan bakat baru yang dilahirkan menerusi program realiti Akademi Fantasia terbitan Astro.
Freddie ketika dihubungi mengesahkan keputusan cadangan menutup Maestro tetapi enggan mengulas lanjut sehingga Pengarah Hiburan Astro, Zainir Amirullah membuat pengumuman mengenainya.

Menurut sumber dalaman syarikat pengurusan terbabit memberitahu, mereka sudah menerima surat pemberhentian kerja berserta gaji terakhir pada petang semalam daripada Pengarah Eksekutif Astro Entertainment, Zainir Aminullah.

alhamdulilah la kalo mila diserap dlm Astro Entertainment.
harap2 management AE lebih fokus dlm mengurus kerjaya mila, mengembangkan lg bakat mila dan berusaha lebih dlm mempromosi diri mila.
since 5 org je yg diserap masuk. so tumpuan tu mungkin lebih baik drp masa di maestro.
dan harap mila really2 takes this moment utk muhasabah diri.
ramai org percaya pd bakat dia. dan tau dia boleh pergi jauh kalo dia betul2 fokus pd nyanyian.
bertuah la kiranya mila tidak dibiarkan terkontang kanting mcm rakan2 yg lain.
jd diharapnya mila............tolongggggggg la betul2 hargai peluang yg org bagi ni. kalo sekadar nk main2 dlm bidang nyanyian.
lebih baik dia bg kt org lain yg lebih memerlukannya. lebih baik dia menolak utk diserap masuk dlm AE kalo dia mg betul2 nak quit menyanyi.
tolonggg la jgn buat org menyesal sb bg ko peluang. dan jgn sampai org kata mila tak sedar dek untung.
