kekadang tu yg risau kann....letak anak kat tempat org2 senang nie, akedemik satu hal tapi i plg risau dia punya peer group....peers contribute a major impact on our kid's emotional developement. ...
Alja.. tu yg my hubby risau.. peer pressure memang ada signaficant contributions to dorang nye development.. But I guess we as parents need to monitor .. ramai gak kawan we all anak org senang, sekolah private / international turn up okay....
My plan now ni.. is to send her to private school for the first couple of years..for her to familiarise herself with Malaysian education system - and she will benefits from the support and focus from her teachers at private school due to small class sizes and english medium environment.. Maybe bila dia masuk darjah 4 ke.. then we can change her to goverment school.. |

errr...rock, i cuma nak share my thot sajalah ye....not that i dun agree with u of sending ur kid to government school but....
thru my observation, manusia nie bila dia dah diajar senang...susah nak down grading them to normal life...i witnessed myself benda nie, biar dia susah pastu senang...drp senang ke susah, aduhai....
byk anak myfren takde masalah nak switch to private from government school...but from gomen to private...they are suffer
i tahu cemana perasaan u tgk anak struggle in government school esp with the language barrier but dun under estimate ur kid, they are good in adapting themselves, in terms of language....tolak tepi my son lah, dia memang slow in reacting to enviroment
cuba u tanya2 org lain yg ada anak tukar sekolah...maybe u can explore any possibilities |

I was informed that Sri KDU is the second best private school in Malaysia. The first is Tunku Jaafar in Negeri 9. Sri KDU is very adamant about maintaining their standards - either facilities or students performance. The teachers are systematically sent for trainings during the school holidays. They have weekly meetings. They have academic targets to meet - targets which are increased every year.
I personally know someone there.
I cannot vouch for the other schools. I don't have any information on them. |

By the way, my son goes to a national school. We tried surveying for private schools. But the facilities of private schools within our vicinity are really pathetic. Most private schools (the smallish ones) do not have their own school field. So the kids lose out on physical education lessons & contact sports. Also, despite not being too focussed on academic results, my hubby and I feel that its important to provide the right environment for our son to achieve his potential. He's a smart kid (I'm biased) but more keen on playing games.
Our concern was that 'some' private schools are not equipped with good teaching support such as trained teachers, adequate lab equipment, sports amenities, not enough emphasis on religious lessons (Pendidikan Islam), etc.
Quite frankly, we are happy with our choice of national school for our son. There are 30 kids in his class. We parents are invited to the school almost every other week for various activites in school - meetings, gotong royong, etc etc. The teaching staff & staff at the school office are very approachable. I'm assured that my son is safe & happy in school. |

Dear Anita,
Thank you for your reply. I have emailed several of the schools in our list - Sri Kdu, Sri Inai, Sri KL, Sri Cempaka and APIIT Smart school. The advice I got from all of them is when we come back to Malaysia, pay the school a visit and check their facilities and all. At the moment, we have shortlisted Sri Inai and Sri KL as our preferred choice. My brother in law send his son to Sri KL and has nothing but good words about the school. Their son, Nazrin, is the top student of his year and is doing really well all round. The response I received from Sri Inai is very encouraging. The only drawback is the lack of sports facilities - no field, no swimming pool for physical activity.
1. Sincerely apologise for the late reply to your email as had some internet connection problems.
2. We have enclosed herewith the FACT SHEET of the school, which include the school fees,
3. Your daughter would be eligible for Junior One next year Primary school.
4. Our school focuses on all - round education, with a good mix of emphasis on academics,
enrichment programme and co - curricular activities.
5. As far as her grasp of Malay is concern, it should not be a problem, as we have also
after - school remedial class to improve her grasp of the Bahasa Malaysia.
During the normal class situation, the Bahasa Malaysia teacher will pay more attetion to guide her.
6. If she is coming to school at 7 years old, she has more than enough time to work on her Bahasa Malaysia.
7. She may not have to sit for the Bahasa Malaysia assessment, since she is coming back from overseas.
8. Our school caters from Primary ( 7 years old ) to Secondary ( 17 years old )..
9. The maximum of students in a class is 25.
10. The music programme is as prescribed by the Ministry of Education, Malaysia, which is the appreciation of music that includes, music rudiment, singing, simple repercussions, melodica and reading of music notes.
11. Beaconhouse school teachers are trained by the accredited tutors of the College of St Mark and St John and Bradford College in the UK
12. Holistic approach in educating your child where "play" is the centre of the curriculum
A friend of ours came to London for a business trip several weeks ago. He has 3 kids at SK Bukit Damansara.. but he is transferring all of them to the Australian International School at Mines Resort. Apparently, according to him, the Australian has the best co-curriculum and syllabus in the world. The emphasis is both on using the left and right side of the brain which I think is essential. As we plan to send her to Australia to pursue her education in the future, our strategy is to start our daughter at either Sri KL or Sri Inai and then maybe in 2 years time, move her to Australian International School once our financial is more stable to cope with the high fees (double than the private school).
It is very hard to find the right balance for our kids. At the moment, I am happy that she is benefiting from the British Education system - i.e. creative thinking, communicating, problem solving.. At 6 years old, she uses phrases like "brainstorm is where your brain jumps to the next idea. I need to brainstorm my brain as I can't just sit at one level, can I?" or "if no one is perfect, then why invent the word in the first place?" - which we found quite impressive for her age but highly amusing. But we need her to be a bit more competitive and have a bit more discipline and pride in her school work / lessons. This she can't get over here, as the system is designed to not put too much pressure on the kids and the attitude of British kids themselves- which is a great idea on paper, but not in practice.

Babe...anak I sekolah di Taman Tun 1.
Actually tak semua anak2 orang kaya dekat situ.Ada yg juga from Sungai Pencala. So slightly we know income parent yg dari sana.
Pagi2 I boleh tengok student yg turun kereta from Bantley sampai ke dari motor kapcai saja.
Even masa Open day hari tu ada classmate my daughter pakai Iphone 5, wallet from Gucci dan ada juga classmate dia yg bila nak beli cupcake buka wallet hanya ada RM1.00 saja sedangkan cupcake tu RM3.00. Sedih i tengok.
So kesimpulannya sekolah kat Taman Tun 1 tu family background student dia dari mix income.
Cuma I dengar Sekolah di Bukit Damansara really mcm high scholl kat Beverly Hill.....hehehhehe.
