About the book
A Game to Love is the stunning publishing debut of award-winning sports photographer Mike Powell. Featuring 500 highly evocative images, the book celebrates the passion for tennis that exists around the world. Powell's extraordinary images capture the character and brilliance of the greatest players in the game today and are complemented by the words of many of the game's legendary greats of yesteryear, among them John McEnroe, Billie Jean King, Steffi Graf, Boris Becker, and Rod Laver. From superstar players, veterans, and juniors to the spectating cognoscenti and tennis haute couture; from screaming coaches, businesslike trainers, and long-suffering officials to the players' boxes, real fans, and "fan fashion"; from the intimate details of hands-on racquets and the wiping of brows to the textures of clay, grass, and hard court, A Game to Love is a luscious and original visual tribute to one of today's most-watched and most-loved sports.

About the author
Having started at the age of 17, Mike Powell has been photographing sport for 25 years. His work has been prominently featured in magazines such as Sports Illustrated, Newsweek, and ESPN, and he has won numerous awards. He lives and works in Los Angeles

nak tepek gambo2 neh...

Roddick sees that the only way he'll have a chance to win this point -- his fifth championship point -- is to lunge at the ball...

...followed by a full-on dive...

...and a tumble...

...believe it, Andy: It landed in.

Roddick d. Raonic... mmg cun point nih.

Sad news out of Thailand today. The marriage between Paradorn Srichaphan and former Miss Universe Natalie Glebova has ended after only three years. This announcement comes on the heels of Stanislas Wawrinka's recent split from his wife of less than a year. Something about this new generation is making me wonder if tennis players and long marriages are a thing of the past. With the exception of a few serial vow-takers (Bjorn Borg and Chris Evert come to mind), tennis players actually have a pretty good marriage track record. Here are some couples still going strong:

Rod Laver and Mary Bensen: 45 years
Evonne Goolagong-Cawley and Richard Cawley: 36 years
Jimmy Connors and Patti McGuire: 32 years
Mats Wilander and Sonya Mulholland: 25 years
Ivan Lendl and Samantha Frankel: 22 years
Stefan Edberg and Annette Olsen: 19 years
John McEnroe and Patty Smith: 14 years*
Mary Jo Fernandez and Tony Godsick: 11 years
Pete Sampras and Bridgette Wilson: 11 years
Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf: 10 years
Pat Rafter and Lara Feltham: 7 years
Michael Chang and Amber Liu: 3 years
Roger Federer and Mirka Vavrinec: 2 years
Andy Roddick and Brooklyn Decker: 2 years

*(Johnnie Mac's second trip down the aisle seems to be holding up better than his first to Tatum O'Neal, which lasted 6 years.)
