Pengeluar kereta Jerman, Porsche, bersedia membincangkan kerjasama masa depan dengan Maria Sharapova sambil satu lagi penaja, Nike, turut mengalu-alukan penggantungan dua tahun pemain itu disingkatkan kepada 15 bulan.
Sharapova asalnya digantung oleh Persekutuan Tenis Antarabangsa (ITF) sehingga Januari 2018 selepas diuji positif untuk bahan terlarang, meldonium, awal tahun ini.
Bagaimanapun, bintang Russia itu mempertahankan bahawa dia tidak menyedari meldonium telah ditambah kepada senarai bahan terlarang Agensi Anti-Doping Dunia (WADA) dan Mahkamah Timbangtara Sukan (CAS) mengumumkan penggantungan ke atasnya dipendekkan pada Selasa.
Porsche, yang sebelumnya menggantung semua aktiviti bersama Sharapova, kini merancang untuk membincangkan projek masa depan dengan juara lima kali Grand Slam itu.
“Kami telah mengambil maklum keputusan terbaru CAS dalam kes Maria Sharapova. Kami mengalu-alukan keputusan CAS itu dan berasa gembira untuknya,” kata satu kenyataan Porsche.
“Kami sentiasa berhubung rapat dengannya dan seperti yang ditekankan sebelumnya, kami hanya menangguhkan sementara sebarang aktiviti bersamanya sejak beberapa bulan lalu sehingga keputusan akhir diketahui.
"Tiada kontrak yang telah ditamatkan. Kami akan berbincang kerjasama masa depan pada hari-hari dan minggu-minggu yang mendatang.”
Syarikat gergasi pakaian sukan, Nike, meneruskan tajaannya bersama Sharapova pada Jun lalu di sebalik penggantungannya di samping mengalu-alukan keputusan terbaru CAS itu.
“Kami berasa gembira Maria akan kembali bermain sukan yang dicintainya ini pada April dan kami akan bergandingan dengannya demi kejayaan berterusannya di dalam dan di luar gelanggang,” kata Nike dalam satu kenyataan. |

Former World No.1 Maria Sharapova gave her first interview since successfully appealing her suspension to the Court of Arbitration for Sport with PBS' Charlie Rose.
With a reduced ban of 15 months, Sharapova is eligible to play again after April 25, 2017, and it is clear that, from her interview with the esteemed American journalist, the five-time Grand Slam has every intention of making a thunderous return.
The interview airs on PBS Tuesday night at 11PM EST; check out several clips already posted to YouTube, in which Sharapova describes the process of discovering having contravened the newly changed anti-doping rules, her initial hearings conducted by the International Tennis Federation, and how she sees herself ahead of a planned comeback next spring.

[size=17.3333px]Maria's ban expires on April 26, 2017. The clay event Prague Open starts on the 1st of May.
Acc. to the tournament director Mrs. Černošková, they are starting talks with Maria's management. 'Adding a player of Maria's calibre to the field would be very attractive.'
