Ikimono-gakari Single

After achieving good sales with their newest album Hajimari no uta, pop-rock trio Ikimono-gakari are already working on a new single to be released on March 10th.
The band is providing two new songs to be used in the soundtrack of the 2010 version of the movie "Toki wo kakeru shoujo". These songs are the single's title track Nostalgia and the b-side Toki wo kakeru shoujo, originally composed by singer Yumi Matsutoya and sung by Tomoyo Harada.
Nostalgia might not be unknown to fans, as it was once released back on the band's debut mini-album Makoto ni senetsu nagara First Album wo koshiraemashita... in 2003. However, the group has reworked the melody of the song for the film in a new recording version.
"Toki wo kakeru shoujo" was originally released in 1983, in which Tomoyo Harada made her acting debut and provided the same title track as the movie's theme song. Ikimono-gakari have re-recorded the song, which will be included on the single along with an alternative version of their hit single YELL and Nostalgia's instrumental counterpart.
In other news, Ikimono-gakari have another new song, called Arigatou, being aired in Japanese TV as the tie-in song of NHK's drama "Gegege no nyoubou". Arigatou was fully composed by band member Mizuno Yoshiki.

SUGIZO and GACKT to Collaborate for Stage Production!!
Recently GACKT is busily involved in his "NEMURI×GACKT PROJECT" as Nemuri Kyoushirou, to which it has now been announced, that for the play [眠狂四郎無頼控 / Nemuri Kyoushirou Buraihikae], SUGIZO will be making his debut as a stage musician.
Alone for the reason, that the two of them have been members of S.K.I.N. this should be causing some attention.
Within the play [眠狂四郎無頼控 / Nemuri Kyoushirou Buraihikae] GACKT is taking over the role of the new hero Nemuri Kyoushirou.
It should be interesting to see, how GACKT is portraying the hero Nemuri Kyoushirou, after he had played the role of modern heros like Kamen Rider before.
Even more so, since said character played by GACKT is supported by SUGIZO himself.
In the interview SUGIZO has provided musicJAPANplus in 2010 he said, that he will give his very best as he himself does to make good music and to do the things whole heartedly.
With this said, it should certainly be great music he will be presenting.
On a more private note, SUGIZO said laughing that his goal for 2010 will be to [definitely find a girl-friend.]
More on the contents of this interview can be found at musicJAPANplus, so please take a look.

Polanski crowned best director at Berlin film festival; Terajima wins best actress
Sunday 21st February, 05:09 AM JST
BERLIN —
The Turkish film “Bal,” or “Honey,” won the top Golden Bear award Saturday at the 60th annual Berlin film festival, whose jury also crowned Roman Polanski best director.
Polanski, whose film “The Ghost Writer,” debuted at the festival, was unable to attend the ceremony, as he remains under house arrest in his Swiss chalet in Gstaad.
Producer Alain Sarde, who accepted the prize on Polanski’s behalf, said the director told him he would not have attended the festival even if he had been free, “because the last time I traveled to accept an award I landed in jail.”
Polanski was arrested when he arrived in Zurich on Sept 26 to receive a lifetime achievement award from a film festival. The Swiss must decide whether to extradite him to the U.S. to face possible further sentencing in a 32-year-old sex case.
A joint Silver Bear for best actor was awarded to the stars of the Russian film, “How I Ended the Summer.” Grigory Dobrygin and Sergy Puskpalis played opposite one another as an older and younger researcher who clash at a polar station on an island in the Arctic Circle.

Shinobu Terajima won the best actress for starring as a wife forced to tolerate the tyranny of her husband who returns disabled from the second Chinese-Japanese war in the Japanese film “Caterpillar.”
At the award ceremony, director Koji Wakamatsu read out a message from Terajima, who has already left Berlin, in which she said, ‘‘I am thankful for the award. This will be my lifelong treasure.’‘
The film will be released in Japan in August.
Terajima, 37, became the third Japanese actress to win the best actress award at the Berlin film festival, one of the world’s three major film festivals along with Cannes and Venice.
A Romanian film, “If I Want to Whistle, I Whistle” by Florin Serban of Romania was awarded the Silver Bear runner-up prize. It depicts the tough story of a youth who panics that his mother will flee the country with his younger brother while he is in a juvenile reform center.
The winning film, “Honey,” tells the story of a 6-year-old boy who stops speaking when his father disappears. It was filmed in the lush mountains of the Turkish countryside where the boy goes in search of his father, a beekeeper.
Director Semih Kaplanoglu said the award was “like a rebirth” and he hoped that it would be an inspiration to young filmmakers in Turkey.
“The Ghost Writer,” based on a novel by Robert Harris, stars Pierce Brosnan as a former British prime minister, Olivia Williams as his wife and Ewan McGregor as a ghost writer hired to complete his memoirs on a rain-swept island off the U.S. east coast.
The movie, Polanski’s first since “Oliver Twist” in 2005, was nearly complete at the time of his arrest.

keadaan dah terbalik kat Korea...
Why the Japanese Wave Just Keeps on Coming
Armadas of middle-aged Japanese women no longer chase Bae Yong-joon, the biggest star the Korean wave of the early millennium produced; instead, more and more Korean fans are now dying for a glimpse of their favorite Japanese stars. In Korea, some of the so-called J-drama maniacs watch Japanese soaps all night long, and the growing popularity of Japanese novels here already outstrips any enthusiasm for Korean writing.
Obviously pleased with the reversal of fortunes, a Japanese movie magazine hailed the Japanese boom in Korea, saying, "While the Korean wave is on the wane, the Japanese wave is waxing." Many critics agree that while Korean Wave is receding, Japanese culture has been slowly assimilated into the mainstream of Korean culture and has firmly taken root there. So what are the strengths differentiating the Japanese Wave? The Chosun Ilbo asked experts for their views.
◆ Stars
Korea only opened its door to Japanese movies and drama on Jan. 2004, and ever since, the number of Japanese films shown in Korea has been on a steady increase. This year there were a total of 81 so far, compared with 29 in 2004, 34 in 2005, and 51 in 2006. Big name Japanese stars such as Takuya Kimura, Jo Odagiri, the star of the popular J-film "Mezon Do Himiko," and Satoshi Tsumabuki from "Josee, The Tiger and the Fish" have all visited Korea to promote their new films. "It used to be rare for Japanese stars to visit Korea, but now they see Korea as a lucrative market," said an insider with a company that distributes Japanese films here.
Sustainability is one thing that sets the Japanese Wave apart from the Korean Wave, which effectively lasted only for two years from 2004 to 2006. And while the Korean Wave managed to produce only a handful of big stars -- headed by Bae Yong-joon and Choi Ji-woo -- Japan continuously delivers fresh stars to be adored. Starting with Takuya Kimura, whose popularity just keeps growing, actors like Jo Odagiri, Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, and Satoshi Tsumabuki all succeeded in capturing the hearts of Korean fans. Female stars are no exception with actresses like Juri Ueno, Erika Sawajiri, Yuu Aoi and Aoi Miyazaki garnering more popularity in Korea as the year goes by. And while Korean actors appear in only one to two movies a year, Japanese actors frequently shoot several.
◆ Creative content
Among the domestic films released this year, blockbusters like "200 Pounds Beauty," "Highway Star," "Black House," "Kidnapping Granny K" and "Lovers Behind" were all based on Japanese sources. Last year and this year, as many as 21 films were produced in Korea using Japanese source material, a significant rise compared to just five from 2001 to 2005. In other words, Korea depends on Japan for its creative juice.
The biggest strength of the Japanese Wave, then, is creativity. In Japan, popular comics or novels are often made into dramas and movies, creating a kind of a synergy effect. In Korea, hit dramas like "Winter Sonata" and "Daejanggeum (Jewel in the Palace)" rarely venture into other media. Japan also boasts a rich variety of material for its dramas and movies. Stereotypical Cinderella stories dominate Korean dramas but are almost non-existent in Japan. Instead, bizarre yet brilliantly creative stories of ordinary individuals entertain Japanese viewers.
"Japanese dramas and movies don't just appeal to the sentimental," says Yun Ji-won of the LG Electronics' Life Soft Research Institute. " eople don't get easily bored with Japanese dramas because they portray the life story of an individual in a serio-comical manner unlike Korean dramas that are more or less the same as each other."
