i believe, chargers qb before flutie was jim harbaugh. he was brought in by coach mike riley (current oregon state hc) after ryan leaf experiment failed miserably.
flutie was drafted by los angeles rams in 1985 draft in the 11th round. after spending time in cfl, he went back to nfl and signed with the bills, to backup rob johnson (bills acquired johnson from jaguar to be their starting qb), but ended up starting because of johnson ineffectiveness (failed to read defense and hold the ball too long).
niners should have won against the eagles. nolan is not qualified to be a head coach. after 4 years, how can you not know the rules, when to challenge, when not to challenge, what's qualified for a challenge, etc.?
nolan should be fired, now! let martz coach the team, leave the defense to manusky and at season end, hire bill cowher. i want to see west coast offense back with the team; the best offense that will keep the chains move. with his quick release and scrambling ability, o'sullivan will fare better in wco.
or, fire nolan, promote singletary to interim hc and at season end hire mike holmgren (his contract with the hawks is up at end of the season) to be hc. a bay area native, holmgren, loves to come back and coach the team he left after those great winning years with bill walsh.
O.o Tomo is out, Manning is back to his game, Giants' unbeaten streak is over, Chargers' improving ... hmmm this could be an interesting season to watch...

bye week for the niners this week. next week, they will travel to the desert to play the cardinals on monday night game. hopefully, they will start to show something on both sides of the ball, or just prepare for 2009 draft.
