Real Madrid's Van Nistelrooy slams Ramos dismissal

Real Madrid striker Ruud van Nistelrooy slammed the decision to send-off teammate Sergio Ramos in Saturday's 2-0 defeat at Sevilla.

Real players and staff are still furious with the officiating of Alvarez Izquierdo and Van Nistelrooy said: "The second card for Sergio Ramos was not on. If he measured everyone by the same yardstick, then he should have sent-off four or five players of Sevilla.
"They committed many fouls and the problem was that they were not punished for repetitive misconduct, which is also a yellow card. Ramos has not made more fouls than another five or six players in the game. "The fouls are not always repetitively hard, but when a player makes five you have to show the yellow, and it could have stopped this tactic." The Dutchman also stood by coach Bernd Schuster's complaints about Izquierdo being Catalan. He added: "For me, it does not matter where the referee is from. What the coach said was in the heat of the moment, after the game and I understand the emotion of the moment. "It's something that happens in a hot environment, and he is a man who wants to win at Real Madrid, like all those in the team."

Barcelona chief calls for investigation into Real Madrid's Schuster

Barcelona sports chief Txiki Begiristain wants Liga authorities to investigate Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster's remarks about referee Alvarez Izquierdo.
Schuster took exception to Izquierdo's Catalan background after Saturday's defeat at Sevilla and Begiristain wants the statements investigated, says Marca.

Madrid Should Blame Themselves For Loss - Mosquera

Aquivaldo Mosquera has statde that Real Madrid should look at themselves before blaming everybody else for their defeat against Sevilla in the heated encounter on Saturday evening.

The Colombian defender was unhappy that Bernd Schuster and his players came out after the game and stated that rough treatment and bad refereeing meant that they lost.

"When you lose you have to look for the reasons in your own team," Mosquera said.

"You cannot say that you have been robbed or that the referee was bought off."

Ruud Van Nistelrooy said that the referee should have sent off four or five Sevilla players, while Schuster stirred things up by hinting that the referee being Catalan influenced his decision making.

Despite the fact that the same matchday official helped Madrid in their win over Almer韆 earlier in the campaign, Mosquera was not keen to become  involved.

"I do not want to enter in to that because people can say what they like, but we won and that it is the end of the matter," he continued.

"I do not like speaking about controversy surrounding referees. The game has fnished and we are all pleased to have won."

Mosquera came on to make only his fifth appearance of the season against Madrid, when replacing the injured Federico Fazio, and he is now hoping to stay in the team.

"I was able to play and that made me hapy and I am feeling better all the time. I hope to continue playing more often and to fit into the team," he said.

Looking ahead to the Champions League encounter on Wednesday, Mosquera recognised that playing against Steaua in their own stadium will be tough.

"It will be very difficult because they are at home and will have their fans behind them," he explained.

"They are very close to the top as well so we have to give everything we have."
