Arrigo Sacchi: Sergio Ramos Can Be As Good As Maldini
Former AC Milan and Italy boss Arrigo Sacchi believes that Sergio Ramos has what it takse to match Paolo Maldini one day...
Legendary Italian defender Paolo Maldini may have an understudy in the form of Sergio Ramos, according to Maldini's former coach Arrigo Sacchi.
While the Real Madrid youngster is seen of more of a right-back, Maldini being a central or left-sided player, the experienced manager sees many similarities between the two.
"He has everything needed to have as fantastic a career as Maldini," he enthused to Radio Marca.
"He reminds me a lot of him. He has it all: talent, strength, vitality... He will be one of the best in the world if he can show humility and modesty."
Sacchi went on to explain that a will to succeed was just as important.
"Maldini always tried to be the best, and that was his virtue. Now, God has given Sergio some fantastic talents, too."
With Ramos linked by Marca with a move to the San Siro, Sacchi's comments perhaps took on a new air of significance. However, for now such rumours remain the product of the Spanish press only and have yet to show any basis in fact.
Sacchi, 61, won the European Cup (now Champions League) with Milan in 1989 and 1990, and also coached the Italian national team to the runners-up spot at the 1994 World Cup.

Sneijder - I Do Not Need A Psychologist Welsey Sneijder has stated that he does not need or want to see a sports psychologist after Real Madrid were reported to be in talks with hiring one. hmy3:
The Dutch midfielder was one of the players named as someone who could do with the services of Kerry Spackman to cope with the pressure of the moving to the club.
That has not gone down well with Sneijder though and he has reacted angrily to suggestions that a chat with Lewis Hamilton's psychologist would help him.
"I feel great and I don抰 need one," he said. "In fact, the whole team feels well psychologically speaking. I don抰 know if the news is true, but if it is, I definitely don抰 need a psychologist."
Sneijder has been accused of seeing his form dip after some outstanding early displays, but he claims that it has nothing to do with the pressure.
"Maybe I did at the beginning because I was new here. The team doesn抰 feel pressure either. There is no reason to: we are leaders," he continued.
"At the start of the campaign I played down the left, but I had freedom to play behind Ruud and Ra鷏 too. I then was positioned on the right or in the centre, which I didn抰 and don抰 mind. I think the team has great movement in midfield."
This weekend Real Madrid take on Real Mallorca in the Bernab閡 and Sneijder does not believe Bernd Schuster's side will take their foot off the pedal.
Every game is important and tough in this league. None of them are easy," he said. "We have to play in every single one as if we were in a final. This also applies to Sunday抯 fixture.
"Mallorca have some dangerous players and we must be careful, but we must simply focus on playing our game. It is good to have been able to have a few days rest between matches to prepare well for Sunday.
"We played well in Greece and we are currently leaders in the League and in our Champions League group. There is no discomfort on the squad; I don抰 think anything抯 changed."
