Wimbledon: Maria set to marry her match but Serena’s left without a date

She may have been knocked out of Wimbledon, but Maria Sharapova will not have to wait long to put on a white dress again.
The Russian beauty has set a date for her wedding to basketball star Sasha Vujacic and will get married in Turkey on November 10.
Sharapova, 25, said the ceremony would be “quite intimate and small”. The couple got engaged in October 2010 and had hoped for a summer wedding. But they postponed the date because of Grand Slam tournaments and the Olympics, settling for an autumn ceremony in Istanbul instead.
Sharapova fell in love with Istanbul after Vujacic, 28, transferred to the city’s Anadolu Efes basketball club from the New Jersey Nets.
The former Wimbledon champion said: “I watched the royal wedding and I thought it was so grand, with all those millions of people around the world taking an interest in those two people, and I love Kate’s dress. But I wasn’t watching it to get any tips for my wedding.
“I don’t think I’m going to be getting married in an abbey. It’s going to be a lot smaller and I put the emphasis on ‘a lot’.”
As Sharapova prepares to walk down the aisle, her great rival Serena Williams has admitted her romantic life needs reviving.
Serena, 29, said: “I haven’t been on a date in forever. I can be super picky, never satisfied. I haven’t gotten any flowers in a really long time from someone of the opposite sex that doesn’t have to do with business.”
