kalau tgk result setakat ni..blum ada sape lgi yg bole cabar chong wei..jauhnya gap between chong wei
ngan budak2 backup..

Chan抯 maiden final, Fairuzizuan-Zakry also in contention for first Open title
By RAJES PAUL

KUANTAN: Youngster Chan Kwong Beng and the experienced men抯 doubles pair of Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari-Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif scored a first in the Pahang Open yesterday.

Kwong Beng, who used to be the whipping boy in the national training squad, stunned former international Mohd Roslin Hashim to set up a meeting with top seed Lee Chong Wei in today抯 men抯 singles final at the Pahang Sports Complex Indoor Stadium.

Yesterday, the 21-year-old showed great determination to beat Roslin 24-22, 21-19 in a 50-minute semi-final battle to reach his first final in a local Open tournament.

Kwong Beng trains under Misbun Sidek and has clearly benefited from sparring with Chong Wei and Roslin.

The shuttler from Perak was ecstatic over his breakthrough win.

揊inally, I will feature in the final of the Open tournament. The win over Roslin is really important for me,

Razif-Khe Wei suffer painful collapse in semis defeat

KUANTAN: World Championships-bound Mohd Razif Abdul Latif-Woon Khe Wei抯 inability to finish off their opponents is proving to be major hurdle in their bid to forge a potent mixed doubles pairing.

And it proved costly again at the Pahang Open yesterday.

Despite holding comfortable leads in the second game and the decider, the pair went down 18-21, 22-20, 23-25 to Mohd Lutfi Zaim Abdul Khalid-Lim Yin Loo in the semi-finals.

Malaysian satellite champions Lutfi-Yin Loo will face top seeds and World Championships-bound Koo Kien Keat-Ng Hui Lin in today抯 final at the Pahang Sports Complex Indoor Stadium.

This is not the first time that Razif-Khe Wei抯 glaring weakness has been exposed. They also could not end their games well in the Malaysian Open, German Open and the Asian Badminton Championships (ABC) in South Korea despite getting off to good starts against their rivals.

Of the two, the lanky Khe Wei seems to have a tendency to lose control easily.

But the plucky lass is hoping to come good in her second World Championships in Hyderabad, India, from Aug 10-16, where she will play in two events. Besides the mixed doubles with Razif, she has also qualified for the women抯 doubles with Sabrina Chong.

揜azif and I tend to freeze when our opponents catch up during crucial stages. And when the pressure is on, I tend to make careless mistakes,

Doubles shuttler misses training in run-up to Indonesian Open
By LIM TEIK HUAT

PETALING JAYA: The men抯 doubles pair of Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif-Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari will make their international return at the Indonesian Open but coach Rexy Mainaky fears they may not be up to the mark in the championships scheduled for June 16-21.

A commitment by Zakry to turn up for his employers, Yayasan Negri Sembilan, in a tournament in Kuantan has put the spanner in the works on Rexy抯 plans to get the pair ready for the defence of the Indonesian Open title.

Zakry remained in Kuantan after successfully partnering Fairuzi瓃uan to bag their first title on the domestic circuit at the Pahang Open last week.

His fitness has been a concern and it was the reason for Rexy leaving the pair out of the squad for the Singapore Open from June 9-14.

But Zakry-Fairuzizuan get to com璸ete in Jakarta together with Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong to give them the chance to improve on their rankings before the World Championships in Hyderabad from Aug 10-16.

The Indonesian Open is the last Super Series event before the World Championships and it is the first international meet for Zakry-Fairuzizuan in three months.

揓ust when things get going, Zakry now has to miss training until this weekend. He is only ex?璸ected to be back here on Fri璬ay and we will be leaving for Sin?璯apore the following day,

Chong Wei faces China's might
Wednesday, 03 June 2009
By : Ajitpal Singh

THE absence of Olympic champion Lin Dan has not made it any easier for World No 1 Lee Chong Wei in the Singapore Open as the defending champion will still face formidable China opponents.

Chong Wei, who won the Malaysian Super Series and Swiss Open earlier this year, has China's Bao Chunlai, who captured the Asian Championships in April, and Chen Jin in his way to the final.

The Malaysian begins his campaign against England's Andrew Smith before a possible clash with Sho Sasaki of Japan. Victory would pit him against Bao Chunlai before a likely semi-final battle with Chen Jin.

Should Chong Wei, a silver medallist in last year's Olympic Beijing Games, clear all the obstacles, second seed Peter Gade Christensen of Denmark is likely to be his opponent in the final.

Chong Wei needs to win the Singapore Open to earn ranking points to stay as World No 1 before the World Championships in August,

KLRC's Lee Tsuen Seng and Sairul Amar Ayub, former national player Wong Choong Hann and Tan Chun Seang are the other Malaysians who will see action in the Singapore Open.

Tsuen Seng opens accounts against Taiwan's Hsieh Yu Hsing and is likely to meet second seed Sony Dwi Kuncoro of Indonesia in the second round while Sairul faces the task of meeting Chen Jin in the first round.

Choong Hann takes on India's Chetan Anand in the first round and if he wins, Bao Chunlai awaits in the next round.

Chun Seang, the only local back-up player in the tournament, will compete in the qualifiers.

Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong should clear their men's doubles first hurdle against Poland's Michal Logosz-Robert Mateusiak before facing England's Anthony Clark-Nathan Robertson.

Kien Keat-Boon Heong, the World No 3, are then likely to face a tricky tie against South Korea's Lee Yong Dae-Jung Jae Sung in the quarter-finals.

The Malaysians' semi-final battle is likely to be against second seeds Mathias Boe-Carsten Mogensen of Denmark and a win will pit them against World and Olympic champions Markis Kido-Hendra Setiawan of Indonesia for the title.

Former national pair Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah and Chan Chong Ming-Chew Choon Eng are the other Malaysians in the main draw.

Wong Mew Choo and Lydia Cheah should clear their opening rounds in the women's singles but will run into a brick wall against China opponents in the second round.

In the women's doubles, Wong Pei Tty-Chin Eei Hui, the World No 1, are out to make an impact after a brilliant performance in last month's Sudirman Cup.

Courtesy of New Straits Times

~ mr.ajitpal singh ..apa la yg brillian sgt ngan persembahan pei tty/eei hui kat sudirman cup yg kalah ngan bergu korea & denmark dan struggle tuk menang ngan bergu HK ..di ulang BERGU HONGKONG!!!!
kalau tak ikut pun sudirman cup ...at least checkla result dorang ..jgn main taram je .... :re:

singapore open ...nampaknye draw tuk malaysian cam susah je .... anyway goodluck ...
