THE KING AND THE CLOWN
Pelakon:
KAM WOO SUNG
JEONG JIN SUNG
LEE JUN KI
In "The King and the Clown", the hit film set in the Choson Kingdom, a notorious tyrant king falls in love with an effeminate male court jester, causing deep anger and jealousy in his favorite concubine. This jester, who usually plays female roles in performances, in turn shares intimate feelings with another male clown
Notorious tyrant, King Yeonsan, also one of two monarchs dethroned by a coup d'etat. This film focuses on the relationship between king and clown, not on the king's downfall. But Yeonsan's tyranny, which led to the coup, is a key setting of this film.
Some historians compare Yeonsan to Rome's Nero. To understand why Yeonsan (played by Jeong Jin-yeong) ruled his nation with a heavy hand, we are introduced to Jang Seng (played by Kam Woo-seong), a clown who says, "If I had known that the king is in his subjects' hands, I would have not tried to enter the palace". Yeonsan, who couldn't bare to be in this situation, solves his anxieties by slaughtering his subjects.
And like Oedipus, Alexander the Great, and Sigmund Freud's landmark analogies, we see Yeonsan's mother warring on his psyche. Jang Seng and fellow clown Gong Gil (played by Lee Joon-ki) perform a play in front of his mother in which a queen falls into a snare with the king's concubines and is later killed.
But in this story, Yeonsan's mother is the queen. After seeing the play, Yeonsan killed two concubines on the spot. According to the True Record of the Joseon Dynasty, Yeonsan slaughtered his subjects who were responsible for his mother's death.
"The King and the Clown" is fictitious, but the movie borrows some documented spoken lines from the True Record of the Joseon Dynasty, which records, "The clown named Gong Gil told the king, 'If the king isn't like a king, then rice isn't like rice.'" Gong Gil was promptly executed.
This film also focuses on the friendship between Jang Seng and Gong Gil. But if you don't understand Yeonsan, you may have difficulty following this film.

MY BOSS, MY TEACHER
pelakon:
JEUNG JOON HO (Jung Jun Ho)
JEONG WOONG - IN (Jung Wong - In)
In the first installment of the gangster comedy back in 2001, Gae Doo-sik (Jeong Joon-ho) was forced to attend a high school and get away with at least the credentials to lead one of the country's leading gangster groups (these days, you have to be smart to be a gangster, and that's the key point).
At the end of the first piece "My Boss, My Hero", Doo-sik was given another order from his higher boss: go to college because the standard for gangster leaders has been raised.
That has laid out the basic premise for the sequel and in "My Boss, My Teacher", Doo-sik is attending college, something that he should be quite proud of. But he's not a good college student because his underling Sang-du (Jeong Woong-in) is taking classes and enjoying some campus love affair on behalf of his boss. The momentum comes when Sang-du cannot serve the boss in such a faithful way. For the last semester, all the education majors in Korean universities have to go out to actual schools for several weeks for teacher training. Doo-sik cannot force Sang-du to do the job in his stead; so the boss himself is dispatched to the trouble-laden high school.
Meanwhile, Jeong Woon-taek plays Dae Ga-ri (meaning "head" in a vulgar term), a role reserved for enduring almost uninterrupted beatings and ridicule.
And it turns out that Doo-sik's greater boss Oh Sang-jung (Kim Sang-joong) is attending a high school, the same path that Doo-sik went through with much difficulty. Unfortunately, or fortunately, Doo-sik happens to teach at a school where his greater boss Sang-jung is studying (or rather suffering).
