LOS ANGELES (AP)桲obe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers dispatched the defending champions, and are headed to the NBA finals for the first time in four years.
Bryant scored 17 of his 39 points in the fourth quarter, and the Lakers rallied from an early 17-point deficit to beat the San Antonio Spurs 100-92 on Thursday night and win the Western Conference finals in five games.
The Lakers are 12-3 in the playoffs, including 8-0 at Staples Center, where they haven抰 lost in two months. They have won 14 straight home games and 21 of their last 24 postseason games at home.
They get a week off before opening the NBA finals next Thursday night at Boston or Detroit. The Celtics lead the Eastern Conference finals 3-2 with Game 6 on Friday night.
A basket by Lamar Odom gave the Lakers an 83-76 lead with 5:40 remaining, but a 3-pointer by Brent Barry and a basket by Tony Parker drew the Spurs within two points. Manu Ginobili missed a 3-pointer that could have given San Antonio the lead before Bryant抯 jumper with 3:33 to play made it 85-81.

A foul shot by Duncan drew the Spurs within three, but two more baskets by Bryant made it 89-82 with 1:47 to play, and the Spurs weren抰 closer than five points after that.
Odom added 13 points and eight rebounds, while Pau Gasol had 12 points, a career playoff-high 19 rebounds and five assists for the Lakers.
Parker scored 23 points and Tim Duncan had 19 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists for the Spurs. Michael Finley scored 13 points, Barry and Kurt Thomas added 11 each and Ginobili was held to nine, shooting just 3-for-9.

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. (AP)桞oston got past an old nemesis to set up a matchup with another rival.
Paul Pierce scored 27 points, Ray Allen had 17 and Kevin Garnett added 16 to lift the Celtics to an 89-81 victory over the Detroit Pistons on Friday night in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals.
Boston, which locked up with Detroit many times in the 1980s, will now rekindle another classic series in the NBA finals against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Boston Celtics and LA Lakers at last huh..? looks like the myth(  ) that the NBA nowadays will do anything to increase the viewers is plausible, doesn't it? I thought it will be busted if either one, boston or lakers will be kicked off during conference finals. Huhuhu, bring back the 80s NBA....  |

Rajon Rondo <--- for some reason, i dun quite like this player. maybe he's too young, n not mature enough for NBA. But he got potential, though. Shave off those attitude man. |

erm, walaupun game 5 lakers menang, lepas tu game 6 ngan 7 plak kat boston. susah kot lakers nk menang. lagipun game ari ni xde Kendrick Perkins ngan Rajon Rondo(hate to say, bt sometimes he can be quite useful), so celtics x full strength ari ni, masa Game 4. tp x tau la, tgk la nnt, Kobe Bryant, Pau Gasol ngan Lamar Odom mesti revenge punya masa Game 5.
p.s Kalau Andrew Bynum x injured, mungkin Lakers lebih kuat kot. Tak tau la, tp gut feeling ada rasa mcm Celtics je menang tahun ni. |

hmm... memang dijangka Lakers akan menang dlm Game 5, walaupun diorang hampir blew up their lead dlm 1st quarter. tp dlm game 5, Lakers x mcm Game yg lepas, diorang strive utk fight back, sbb Game 5 ni sangat penting utk dua2 team. Game 5 ni Lakers wat Celtics dlm foul trouble. strategy yg bagus dr Phil Jackson. dengan Kevin Garnett dan Paul Pierce dlm foul trouble, rentak permainan Celtics terganggu.
Game 6, tak dapat dijangka outcome dia, sbb Kendrick Perkins mungkin x main, Rajon Rondo kurang efficient dan keadaan kaki Paul Pierce(mungkin dia tahan injury dia, sbb masa dia injured dlu, dia xleh nk jalan sendiri). Pau Gasol ngan Kobe Bryant mesti lebih syncronized utk offence yg berkesan. Dan Lakers punya defence rotation mesti lebih efficient. Derek Fisher n Jordan Farmar, nice job man. Celtics lak mesti elakkan foul trouble. Team member mesti bantu Pierce ngan Garnett, n bila Lakers da double-team Garnett, Ray Allen mesti free punya utk 3 pointer. and Celtics perlu lebih berani utk attack paint area utk dapatkan free throws.
Ramai yang pertikaikan Kobe Bryant punya steal masa saat2 akhir, sebelum dia dunk tu, adalah reach-in foul, tp bila tgk blk, hmm... rasanya clean steal, bukan foul. Game 6 mungkin akan jadi game yg menarik since ianya kat Boston, and Lakers want to win this no matter what and it is also important to Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce, dan sebelum ni belum ada team yg menang selepas kalah 3-1 dalam Final, n Lakers akan cipta rekod baru klu diorang menang. Sama2 la kita wait and see for the outcome of Game 6 and 7(if necessary). |

Boston Celtics - NBA World Champion. They deserve it, everyone play, balls goes to every player before the field goals. Congratulation Rajon Rondo (dlu aku kutuk ko, skang ko da improve), Paul Pierce (Finals MVP), Kevin "The Big Ticket" Garnett, Ray "Sugar Ray" Allen, and tak lupa pada Eddie House, James Posey, Kendrick Perkins, Leon Powe, P.J. Brown dan 1st time dlm Finals Glen "Big Baby" Davis (nice job).
Lakers leh cuba lagi tahun depan dengan kehadiran Andrew Bynum yg injured pada season ni.
p.s. Pesan Doc Rivers pada anak2 buahnya sblm Game 6 dlm locker room : "No one in this room wants to win this more than anyone else. Everyone wants to win this. Share the ball and that is Celtics ball game." Lebih kurang mcm tu la. Inspiring sungguh. |

congrats to the celtics for winning its 17th title, first one in more than 20 years. as for paul pierce, what a story. an oakland, ca native, pierce was stabbed multiple times at a night club in boston (after his second season with boston), including in the neck, about 8 years ago and now he's the mvp of 2008 nba final.
as for the lakers, it's a good experience for their very young team. derek fisher is the only player on the roster age 30 and over. lakers will be back. the question is, will bryant get enough support from his teammates? he will once they learn how to correct mistakes they made in the playoffs, especially in the finals.

..Man, The New England teams are doing good...from Celtics to Red Sox to the Pats...wish my town can have good team like New England, esp. the baseball team..
