“Drinking Solo” PD Commits Suicide, Family Of Deceased Puts Together Team To Investigate CJ E&M E. Kim November 10, 2016
The assistant PD (producing director) of tvN drama “Drinking Alone” has belatedly been revealed to have committed suicide.
On November 10, a source from CJ E&M revealed that PD Lee was discovered dead in a hotel located in Gangnam district on October 26 at 4 a.m. KST. The police are reportedly investigating the death as a suicide.
PD Lee started at CJ E&M just this January, and his sudden death after not even 1 year at the company is raising questions about whether his death was related to his new work environment.
Several acquaintances of PD Lee, a Seoul University graduate, commented, “PD Lee was miserable from receiving unfair treatment at CJ E&M due to his background.”
PD Lee’s family is demanding a close examination into the truth behind his death. According to reports, no CJ representatives visited PD Lee’s funeral altar at the Seoul University Hospital, but approximately 2000 Seoul University students came to offer their condolences. PD Lee’s family has only revealed the portion of his suicide note that is addressed to the family.
According to reports, PD Lee’s family has met with people from CJ E&M and tvN to demand the restoration of PD Lee’s reputation. The family has put together an investigation team composed of 2 members of the National Assembly, a lawyer, among others, and is asking CJ E&M to cooperate with the investigations.
In response to the news about PD Lee’s death, a source from “Drinking Solo” revealed on November 10, “Due to scheduling conflicts with ‘Drinking Solo’ cast members and the death of one of our staff, we have cancelled the reward vacation.”
