James is in town today for the "hometown visit" portion of A.I., but if you don't want to fight the crowds for his minor appearances, maybe you should schedule a trip out to Galatyn Park in Richardson for their Wildflower Arts and Music Festival. Not only will James perform before headliners The B-52s, the Friday schedule also includes Candlebox, Toad the Wet Sprocket, and Cowboy Mouth. Crystal Bowersox, Casey James and Lee DeWyze have all received texts on their hometown visits today, revealing their Judges Choice songs for Tuesday. And here they are:
Ellen Degeneres chose “Maybe I’m Amazed” by Paul McCartney for Crystal Bowersox
Simon Cowell chose “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen for Lee DeWyze
Kara Dioguardi and Randy Jackson chose “Daughters” by John Mayer for Casey James
Does Simon Cowell own publishing rights to “Hallelujah”? I mean seriously. This song was the Christmas X-factor single a few years ago. His stupid opera boyband Il Divo butchered the tune at one point. And now he hands it off to Lee? Tim Urban already sang the song earlier in the season, and Jason Castro had a moment with it two years ago.
“Daughters” by John Mayer – One of my least favorite John Mayer songs. Kara’s probably thinking he could have an emotional moment with it.
The best pick of the three: “Maybe I’m Amazed” by Paul McCartney – A beautiful, powerful song. Crystal could have the moment of the night with this.
