Triple target for Koo and Tan

IRRESPECTIVE of what they achieve in the remaining months, 2009 will go down as a year to forget for Koo Kien Keat-Tan Boon Heong.
The climax for a wretched year was the semi-final appearance in last month's World Championships -- which could be considered a feat if not for the fact the pair went in as the World No 2.
But rather than wallow in self-pity, Kien Keat-Boon Heong have a chance to bounce back in style as 2010 can be a bumper year for them.
Lined up for them are the World Championships in Paris, the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi and the Asian Games in Guangzhou.
There is also the Thomas Cup which Kuala Lumpur is hosting and the pair will shoulder a heavy burden as Malaysia attempt to win the title for the first time since 1992.
National doubles coach Rosman Razak said despite Kien Keat-Boon Heong's failure to win the world title, the positive to it was they made the semi-finals.
"We have to remember that they have had a wretched year and the buildup to the Hyderabad World Championships was one of inconsistency," said Rosman yesterday.
"Their reputation has actually made the semi-final loss more severe than it actually was. What we have forgotten is that Kien Keat-Boon Heong haven't had a consistent run in a long time.
"However, they have been showing better initiative and look hungry again and this can only mean good for the 2010 campaign."
The Commonwealth Games gold medal should be easily won for their biggest challenge will come from compatriots Zakry-Latif Fairuzizuan Tazari.
The World Championships and Asian Games will be a different story as both will have classy fields.
Rosman, however, believes the World Championships semi-final appearance has boosted the confidence of Kien Keat-Boon Heong.
"This was achieved despite a poor buildup and the pair now know that they have the quality. All they need is to be consistent and they can be the force they once were."
At their best, Kien Keat-Boon Heong can beat the best and that is what they must aim for in 2010 if they want to defend the Asian Games gold won in Doha '06 and be the first Malaysians to clinch a world crown.
Rosman believes they can but the question is do Kien Keat-Boon Heong share his confidence?

a'ah la..tak byk tournament lindan join ekk..mmg eksklusif betul dia ni..skali join tu,terus menang..
dia tak kisah psl ranking ni,yg penting kualiti tu..
tpi diva ni kalau tak main pun,ramai lgi yg bole jadi back up,tu yg untung China ni..pemain dorg sentiasa produktif gitu..
sorang turun,tpi ramai jgk yg naik..muda2 lak tu.. |
