Anything about RAM (POST HERE)

sbab skrang notebook i nie RAM dia tak cukup nak support certain performance dlm software. currently i guna  Compaq Presario2100 AMD 1.4Ghz 120MB RAM, DVD drive. Bila masa nak loading benda(sf2) yg saiz 190MB it takes centuries to finish. so nak tanyer skit kan, kalo i nak tambah RAM kpd ~512MB boleh tak. i mean, dgn spec yg i ader skrang nie boleh support tak. Kalo tambah maksudnyer i kena buang yg lama then ganti yg baru lah? izzit so?

actualy i tak brapa arif dlm hardware, so basically kalo tambah RAM tak pe kan? kalo boleh kpd >1GB ram jadi tak? kalo notebook lebih kurang dlm lingkungan brapa harga yea utk 512MB?? thanks...

entah haku pong tak faham ! tatau mende nye tapi kawan aku cakap speed kira ok, nak lelaju pakai RDRAM terus!

tokei kedai tu cakap dual channel tu:kiranya aku taruk 512mb ram so dia punya speed serupa 1 gb (512 X 2).aku suprise le jugak...macam cartoon aje betul ke?

DDR
Dual Data Rate Ram terbahagai kpd beberapa jenis;

DDR 266 (PC 2100) , DDR 333 (PC32000 , DDR400 (PC3200) ..semuanya adalah model yg biasa digunakan bagi sistem AMD & Intel. Walaubagaimanapun terdapat sistem DDR yg boleh mencapai DDR 433, 466, 500, 533.  Sistem motherboard umumnya menggunakan 64bit kelajuan data.

Manakala Dual Channel berfungsi menjadikan hamparan kelajuan data meningkat kpd 64+64 = 128bit. Andaikan seperti sambungan bateri yg bersiri 1.5v+1.5v akan menjadi 3volt, berbanding sambungan bateri yg selari 1.5v + 1.5v = 1.5v

DDR Dual Channel sama atau lebih laju dari RDRAM. Sebab tu Rambus kantoi.

512MB DDR400 sama laju ngan 1GB DDR400, saiz je lain. First DDR-Double Data Rate ni SDRAM yg laju darab dua, ingat SDRAM 100,133? DDR SDRAM 200, 266. Then ada Dual channel, darab dua lagi. Utk dual channel, kene ada dua batang ram yg sama, cth 512MB DDR400, ngan mobo yg buleh support, cth yg ada chipset i865. Memory slot ada 4 dan kaler coded, cucuk ram kat slot kaler sama. Dual channel jadikan speed DDR400 yg 400Mhz jadi 800Mhz. Seswai ngan FSB CPU intel skarng yg jugak 800Mhz supaya nisbah FSB: memory speed 1:1 utk ngelakkan bottleneck.

Well put. Beli RAM DDR433 atau lagi laju kalau nak overclock. Cari brand Corsair ke Mushkin, Kingston HyperX dan yg sewaktu dgnnyer.

433DDR:stp: ?

Kalau boleh beli RAM yg ade 'timing' 2.5ns (nanosecond), tapi biasanya DDR 433 ke atas keatas banyak yg 3.0 ns.

Kalau bak dibandingkan DDR 400 2.5 lebih laju dari DDR 3.0 433. Tapi kalau nak overclock giler sampai 250fsb memang elokla pilih DDR 500, terutama kalau zack pakai intel system

Kalau RAM yg bermutu cam Corsair XMS, Kingston HyperX (HLX pakai ni) boleh tune 2.5ns (lagi rendah ns lagi laju)

HLX guna DDR 466 pada kelajuan DDR 400 sebab cpu FSB  set pada 200fsb (overclock Barton 2500 dari 166).

sebelum beli pastikan buat survey kedai yg sesuai;

1. Compuzone - servis bagus
2. Robyncom - okla
3. Viewnet - ramai orang komplen kedai ni servis teruk, tapi HLX banyak kali beli kedai ni ok pulak.

CAL = CL ;cyle length

semakin rendah CL bermakna pusingan semakin pantas dalam nano saat

contohnya ram CL 2.0 DDR333 lebih baik dari CL 3.0 DDR400.

Although the technical realization may be a lot more difficult, the basic principle of DDR-SDRAM is very simple. While the new memory module is clocked at the same speed as normal SDRAM, it is able to transport double the amount of data by using the rising as well as falling edge of the clock signal for data transfers. We are all aware of this technology since AGP2x and JEDEC is already working on the DDR II spec, which will double the data transfer once more, using the quad-pumped technology known from AGP4x or the upcoming Pentium 4 bus. DDR-SDRAM has another important improvement over PC133 SDRAM. Its voltage supply is using only 2.5 V, instead of 3.3 V. This and the lower capacities inside the memory chips lead to a significantly reduced power consumption, which makes DDR-SDRAM also very attractive for notebooks.

Unfortunately DDR-SDRAM DIMMs are not compatible with the SDRAM DIMMs we are using now. The new DDR-DIMMs come with 184 instead of the 168 pins used by SDRAM-DIMMs. The module itself looks almost identical to the older SDRAM, but it has only got one notch instead of the two notches found in SDRAM-DIMMs.

The official naming is also a bit confusing. Originally the naming was PC200 for DDR-SDRAM that operates at 100 MHz memory bus and PC266 for the 133 MHz bus. After Rambus however used PC600, PC700 and PC800 for their RDRAM modules, which sounds a lot faster than PC200 or PC266 although it isn't, the memory industry came up with 'PC1600' and 'PC2100' instead. While PC200 and PC266 are only using the effective clock of the data transfer for their numbering, PC1600 and PC2100 use the actual peak data transfer rate in MB/s. Thus PC200 is the same as PC1600 (64 bit * 2 * 100 MHz = 1600 MB/s) and PC266 is equal to PC 2100 (64 bit * 2 * 133 MHz = 2133 MB/s).
