...CRYING MY HEARTLESS OUT IN THE MOVIES...

I haven抰 cried a lot watching movies or show actually. Thousands of watching I did. Let see how many have I been sobbing my heart out. That will be the time when I was in my teen watching an old classic MADAM X, a story about a hooker- once a senator抯 wife and a mother turned into one by circumstances, mother-in-law from hell- succumbed by the lure of loneliness and flesh. That was a really tragic one by Lana Turner, John Forsythe and Ricardo Montalban- cried all over my pillow and that was one damp pillow, I tell you! I cried from the midstory until the ending, have swollen eyes for days later on.

Sad to say, that抯 the only time I cried like mad, cry me a river for a movie or show. Poor romantic yet practical me. I don抰 cry for Hindi movies, too. Just love watching the spectacular, exaggeration making. Just once I did cry. Okay, okay, I admit it, but just once, but sorry to tell, it抯 not of a romance. Oooo卍id I let you down or something? I cried watching Dil Kya Kare卆 movie about how a girl trying to find her long-lost baby girl (*****, actually, having it out of wedlock)卭kay卭kay匢 concede it however was helped by the OST of the movie, too. I抦 a sucker for good music, so what?

Well, let us count. Just two. Let me see if I can up the number a bit. Haa厃es! I did cry in the cinema once before the King Kong movie. It was during the Asia Pacific Film Festival at Bukit Jambul, Penang during my student抯 days. Usually I just laughed at my buddies for crying their hearts out. Remember the time when I laughed at them for crying while watching Titanic (which I would like to brag of watching 10 times, once in the cinema) and before that laughing at others crying while watching Ghost.

Back to the movie that made me bawled my heart out at the festival. A Korean movie- The Gingko Bed- which was actually a thriller-cum-romance. The hero抯 head was beheaded just in front of the heroin by the baddie and the head tumbled and fell into the lap of the heroin. You tell me should I cry or not. Try imagining if it happen to your love one, in my case, I might just faint straight away. But not the heroin, who just endured all until coming to that moment and not even shedding a tear, so I took it upon myself to cry for her. Thank God, I remember to bring a kerchief a long in my bag- which was an insight coz I never do bring one anywhere. So easy enough for me to hide behind one coming out of the cinema.

Uh-oh, so far that抯 all the tears I shed for movies. 3 measly ones. Am I heartless or what?

ps.:cak: forgot about Taegukgi...the Korean war movie (plus++ Won Bin)...and King Kong (hey...Adrian Brody looks so like my so-called nephew with his melting eyes)...
so make those 5 movies, actually....:cak:

hmm... in my school days, never shed a tear over a movie no matter how sad or depressing it is... but i guess as i grow older, if it is about some old lady/ old man being mistreated by their children, i will shed a tear.... so far, never really cry my heart out over any movies...

what does that make me???

sara pun suka dgn cerita2 tamil sampai melanggan channel 21 :bgrin:
cerita tamil, plotnya lebih luas dan tidak tertumpu hanya soal cinta, walaupun cinta dijadikan penyedap cerita.. soal2 kemanusiaan, keagamaan, persahabatan, kesetiaan, ketaatan, mmg biasa dlm filem tamil..
sara suka sgt dgn vijay, vikram atau madhavan.. walaupun madhavan gemuk sikit :lol
tapi cerita tamil sukar sikit utk sara mengeluarkan air mata berbanding dgn cerita2 Yash Chopra :ah:

So far, Armageddon had touched my heart once when Liv Tyler called Willis 'daddy' for the first time in the movie.  as we know she has an unpleasant relationship with her 'dad'.  Hindi movies? naaarrff.. never, I just love to watch the hunky Dino Morea and John Abraham.  Rarely watch romantic and sad movies, I prefer still LOTR and the Trilogy of AMERICAN PIE.  Love em!!

Never really cried because of a movie when I was younger... However, now I'm easily moved by sad scenes involving little kids... partly because I've kids myself..

...which reminds me of this movie "Jude" (adapted from Thomas Hardy's novel) starring Christopher Eccleston & Kate Winslet.
The plot of this movie is kinda complex, so I just write the bits that's really sad ...

This couple had three children living with them, one of the children (7 yrs old) was the man's son from his previous marriage, and the other two (toddlers) were the couple's kids. They lived a hard life, often had to move from one place to another partly because the man (Jude) couldn't get a job. Even if he did, it wasn't for long because once people found out Jude and his partner were living out of wedlock they kind of ostracised the family.

Anyway, one night, when they were in bed, the woman (Kate Winslet) complained to her husband about the condition they were in, how it was hard to get lodgings that would accommodate 3 children ..and the way the conversation went, it was as if she blamed the children for the hardship. She didn't really mean it... it was one of those moments where you just lashed out your frustration without really thinking what you're saying. Unfortunately, the eldest son overheard the conversation but didn't say anything that night.

The next day, Jude managed to secure a job, a good one that paid well. So he ran home to tell the family, met his partner along the way & told her the good news. Together they rushed home to tell the kids and talked about how they're going to send the eldest one to school, etc. But once they're home, they found all the three children hung dead... apparently the eldest felt that all of them were to be blamed for everything that has happened and therefore had no right to live. Next to the bodies was a note scribbled "Done because we are too menny".

It was the saddest thing I've ever seen in a movie, truly upsetting...  that I actually shed tears. I swear, I will never ever say anything bad in front of my children coz you'll never know how badly it could affect them.....
