bery memang cats lover d very much.. Suka sangat dukung-dukung kucing. Baru-baru nie adik tegur coz bery dok dukung my cats. Sebenarnya bery mmg tau kucing tak elok, tp sll terlupa.. and keep on main ngan kucing.

Pagi tadi check doktor suh buat ujian kot2 ada sakit toxoplasma. Result tak keluar lagi, tp doa sangat agar takda apa-apa.

U all macamana? ada yg berpengalaman ngan pets nie.

i pun sama cam u ...tapi since dah  preggy ni i kurang gomol2 derang dah..just usap2 & cepat cuci tangan sumer....takut ader infection.....

so segala pembuangan najis2 derang mmg i x amik port dah ...i bagi hubby buat sumer...

bagi red lak, i have allergy called rhinitis.. which means i cant be near pets, dust, or aper2 yang boleh trigger my allergy. kalau tak, red akan bersin and mata akan jadi merah.. my hubby dolu ader beli cat lah, itu pun i wasnt happy abt it coz dier tak faham dgn keadaan red. maser tu red lom preggy lagi.. then my mom beri advise to my hubby abt pregnancy and keeping cats around, dier baru lah sedar sket and beri kucing tu pada org lain.. ha ha.. but yea cats waste can cause toxoplasmosis which is dangerous for the baby's health.. so kalu siapa yang suka cats tu jaga2lah ya.. i think theres no harm in liking cats but hygiene is v important..stay away from cat's waste..

nis pun ada kucing tapi dah meninggal 2 bulan lepas, masih teringat dekat dia lagi.
sepanjang nis preggy dari bulan 2 hingga dia meninggal (nis dah 6bulan masa tu),
tak pernah jaga atau touch dia sangat, semua hubby yang buat (rasa nyesal).
masa dia meninggal dunia kat clinic pun nis takde, hubby aje.. .
setiap kali nis tidur kat living room, my cat mesti tenung atau duduk sebelah nis,
adalah sekali dua belai dia.

just to share my wife experience...
tahun lepas masa isteri saya 1st time pregnant, dia tertido kat bantal yg kena cat litter..
kucing saper tah masuk umah mak saya pastu p kencing kat bantal tu..:@
geram tul..
masa tu wife saya ni tak tau pon bantal tu kena kencing kucing..
bila saya baring kat bantal dia baru terbau..
(masa tu umah mak saya tu tak de org..mak saya g mekah..kitorg balik umah kosong tu sbb nak tgu my mom balik)
rasanya macam fresh lagi kot kena kencing tu..mmg saya notice ada sekor kucing jiran ni suka sgt tdo kat katil umah mak saya tu..
pastu buat onar plak!
petang tu..tetiba je wife saya muntah2 teruk! malamnya terus demam sampai 40 degree celcius...
siap admitted kat wad 2mlm...risau giler ah...
pastu cek2 ader urine infection...
then lepas discaj..demam sket2 lagi..batuk yg sgt teruk...sampai sebulan..
sampai mlm2 saya pon takbleh nak tdo sebelah dia sbb kuat sgt bunyi batuknya...
masa tu dalam 8thweek-12thweek...
org kata organ2 penting tgh develop..
masa her 27thweek..cek2..bb IUD..meninggal..sbb tak grow!
this thing happen last year..2006
sedih giler..tapi kitorg tak buat lak test nak tau sbb tu ke..
skang ni my wife pregnant  30mgu...harap2 semuanya ok...amin...

Shin ada kawan, bela kucing macam bela anak.
Kesian wife dia gugur 2 kali.
Tapi alhamdulillah now dah pregnent balik.
Kucing pula kena curi.
Dah gundah gulana lagi hati isterinya.

Preggy or not, I still uncomfortable with cats around (My MIL's house). Duh...Mmg ler nampak tak kotor, tpkan. Kalau perati betul2...byk seh bulu2 kat lantai or maybe berterbangan....Tension pun ade, dah le my BIL bela Hamster pulak...tension makcik...

Luckily, they understand I don't fancy these furry animals....erk...teruk aku ni....

infection najis kucing ni hanya for outdoor cat, kucing yg jejak tanah,,yg kitatak tau makan apa...walaubagaimana pon kucing yg kita bela dlm rumah dah makan..makanan kucing tak merbahaya...tapi kalo boleh..bab bersihkan taik kucing tu...soh ler org lain buat...kita still boleh belai..atau bagi makan kucing..sesapa yg ada asthma tu definately tak boleh ler membela kuceng....dan lagi satu sapa2 yg dah immune kucing ni maksudnya dari lahir kuceng mmg family member kira tough sket ler..tapi kena lah hati2 gak..dah nama pon najis kan....infecton tu bukan kat kucing..tapi kat urine dan najis dia..kcucing kurap plak..bukan sajer org pregnant kena avoid tak pregnant pon kena avoid le..kalo prihatin anto ler kucing tersebut gi klinik..eh ape saje aku merepek..ni...

from info yg berry baca pun mcm yang zealvia bagitau tu. Dan kucing bery mmg jenis dok umah, makan friskis mmg anti sosial dan bery mmg dah hidup dgn kucing sejak azali.
Tapi last Mon, Dr call bagitau bery kena gak toxoplasma tu... parasit dari kucing. Padahal sbenarnya skrg nie kalau jumpa kucing pun time balik kampung rumah mak jek. Takut tu takut  sebenarnya. Doktor bagi antibiotik dan yg lain tu bery doa pada tuhan semoga anak bery sihat sejahtera. Dahla  kita nie baru nak dapat anak pertama, umur pun dah 30.

Toxoplasmosis and Pregnancy

Toxoplasmosis is caused by a parasite called toxoplasma gondii. This is found in different forms in raw meat, within cats who eat raw meat and their faeces. Toxoplasmosis infection is common in both men and women outside of pregnancy, however it is infection during pregnancy that is of most concern as it can lead to infection in the unborn infant: congenital toxoplasmosis.

Who is at Risk?

Once you have had toxoplasmosis, the body develops immunity and new exposure during pregnancy is not an issue. Peak incidence is between ages 25 and 30 years and in the UK by this time, about 30% of people will have had toxoplasmosis, hence will not be at risk of any problems during pregnancy. In the US, about 30-35% have antibodies and in France more than 65% of women will have already had toxoplasmosis. Because infection is more common in France, congenital toxoplasmosis occurs at over twice the rate in the UK or US.

It is not known for sure how many women catch toxoplasmosis during pregnancy, but some research suggests it is of the order 2 in every 1000, which means about 1400 each year in the UK.

What are the Symptoms of Toxoplasmosis?

It is unusual for otherwise healthy people to be ill when infection occurs. The most common symptoms are a viral, glandular fever-like illness or swollen glands in the neck.

How is it Diagnosed?

A blood test can indicate whether you are susceptible to getting an infection, hence at risk. It can also diagnose new infection in the mother. In France all women are screened at the beginning of pregnancy to see if they are susceptible to infection. In the UK this is not the case as the incidence of infection is low. In any case, risk can be avoided with simple measures, and although ascertaining your antibody status may reassure you if you are immune, it's not as though there is a vaccine to prevent infection, as is the case with Rubella, for example.

What are the Risks to the Baby?

In only about 30-40% of women who catch toxoplasmosis during pregnancy, does the infection pass to the unborn baby. The actual risk appears to be related to the gestation at which it is acquired. It is greatest in the third trimester at 70%, whereas in early pregnancy only 15% of infants will become infected.

Toxoplasmosis infection may lead to miscarriage, stillbirth, or survival with growth problems, blindness, water on the brain (hydrocephalus), brain damage, epilepsy, or deafness. This often develops after birth, so even normally born infants of women with known infection should be kept under observation for some time.

If a woman is found to have acquired toxoplasmosis during pregnancy, she will be offered an ultrasound scan to look for signs of fetal infection. After 20 weeks gestation, she may be offered a definitive test - cordocentesis. This involves a scan and blood sample being taken from the umbilical cord.

What is the Treatment?

The evidence that antibiotic treatment can help to prevent some of the sequelae of toxoplasmosis infection is unfortunately contradictory. If a scan suggests severe damage, the woman is offered the option of terminating the pregnancy.

How can I Avoid Catching Toxoplasmosis?

Although toxoplasmosis is quite serious when it occurs, as you will see from the figures above, it is relatively rare. Women with cats do not need to get rid of them when they become pregnant; it is just necessary to take a few precautions.

Be sure to only eat meat which has been cooked right through. Wash your hands, cooking utensils and food surfaces after preparing raw meat and wash all the soil from fruit and vegetables before eating. Keep raw meat and cooked foods on separate plates. If possible get someone else to clean out the dirty cat litter or use gloves and wash your hands afterwards. Always use gloves when gardening and wash your hands afterwards.

Try not to worry excessively or become paranoid about this - if you take these precautions, chance of infection is practically eliminated - you can still pet your cat, without fear!

Finally, it is important for pregnant farmers to be aware that toxoplasmosis can be caught from sheep at lambing time.

Lagipun, ntah mmg dah nak jadi.. padahal bery tak penah pun handle my cat's waste ke.. boleh kata mmg minimal contact ngan kucing kecuali dokong2 kalau balik kg tu pun bukanla selalu..

dok doa anak sihat laa harap-harap sedih gak. Tapi bila fikir-fikir balik, ramai jek yg surround by kucin and maybe sbb tak bagitau doktor ke..Wallahualam.

i doakan u & baby dilindungi dr unwanted fate ye...
i was a cat lover jugak... & hubby pon mmg suke kucing. once we had 4 cats (2 male, 2 female) & 8 kittens... tp bile dh tau i was preggy, we gav away the female cats & all kittens, we just kept the male cats... tinggal 2 la jadinye...

alhamdulillah, x kene toxoplasmosis. yup, the doc did advise us 2 get rid o the cats al2gether, tp x smpai ati btul nk berpisah ngan yg 2 ekor tu...

i agree wit mrs john tho... mmg house cats ni nmpak bersih but stil we r talking 'bt kuman here, kuman yg x nmpak... i guess tu sbb berry terkene virus ni kot...

i dulu pon, degil jugak... i thot selagi x kn their wastes, it shudnt b a prob la... but acc 2 doc, it's best if we could actually stop any contact la, we nvr know wat's gonna happen kan...

tho it was a free prob prgnancy, 2wards the end tu ade complication sket. i bled in my 36 weeks... x tau la due 2 xposure ngan cats ke x... i had 2 b induced & the baby pon lahir ngam2 je 36 weeks...
