SUBANG JAYA: A cyber cafe employee allegedly beat his 25-year-old wife to death in their rented home in Taman Puchong Utama here, late Friday.
Subang Jaya OCPD ACP Yahaya Ramli said the 33-year-old suspect had earlier taken his two sons, aged six years and two months, to his brother's home nearby, minutes before the alleged murder.
After leaving them there, the suspect told his mother he was going to look for his wife and said he wanted "to go die".
"The concerned mother asked her son to check up on the suspect and his wife. Calls at their house went unanswered. The man then broke through the door and found his sister-in-law motionless on the floor. She was covered in bruises," ACP Yahaya said.
The victim was pronounced dead at 12.30am Saturday.
"It is believed her own husband caused her death by beating her repeatedly using his fists.
"Investigations found the couple fought a lot due to the suspect's alleged addiction to syabu," said Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Ramli, adding that the body has been sent to the Serdang Hospital for a post mortem.
ACP Yahaya said the suspect is believed to have fled after committing the alleged crime.
Authorities said the suspect managed to get a hold of a cousin and informed him that he was in Kedah.
The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
When met at the scene, the victim's mother said her daughter had been married to the suspect for about three years and that the couple fought frequently.
"I haven't seen her for about six months. I asked her to come home for Deepavali. She said she would but she did not turn up," she said.
She said her daughter and family used to live in a flat near hers but moved out suddenly two months ago.
"She did not inform me that she was moving out," she added.
