EDISI TINGGAL SPENDER: Siti Mastura kalah saman fitnah, diarah bayar hampir sejuta

GEORGETOWN: Mahkamah Tinggi Pulau Pinang hari ini memutuskan kenyataan Ahli Parlimen Kepala Batas, Dr Siti Mastura Muhammad, yang didakwa mengaitkan veteran dan pemimpin DAP, Tan Sri Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng serta Teresa Kok mempunyai pertalian dengan komunis, sebagai fitnah dan tidak disokong bukti.

Pesuruhjaya Kehakiman, Datuk Quay Chew Soon, dalam keputusan penghakimannya mendapati Siti Mastura sebagai defendan telah bertindak dengan niat jahat, dan pembelaan terhadap beliau berdasarkan alasan komen adil dan keistimewaan bersyarat adalah tidak dapat diterima.

Justeru, mahkamah mengarahkan Siti Mastura membayar ganti rugi sebanyak RM300,000 kepada Kit Siang, Guan Eng (RM250,000) dan Teresa Kok (RM200,000), selain menetapkan RM25,000 dibayar kepada setiap plaintif berkenaan sebagai kos.

"Saya berpuas hati bahawa kata-kata yang dipertikaikan secara biasa dan semula jadi itu cenderung mendedahkan plaintif kepada kebencian awam serta merendahkan mereka dalam anggapan anggota masyarakat yang berfikiran rasional secara amnya.

"Perlu diperhatikan bahawa plaintif dikaitkan dengan aktiviti jahat dalam bersekongkol dengan elemen komunis, justeru mendedahkan mereka kepada kebencian dan menghasut pendapat awam yang buruk.

"Ia melampaui kritikan politik biasa dan telah melintasi sempadan apabila kata-kata yang dipertikaikan itu menyerang watak dan nilai plaintif," katanya melalui aplikasi Zoom.

Aku suspicious skit kalau muda-muda ada phd ni. Diorg ni kekdg sejenis yg masa degree dulu tak dpt keje so sambungla master amek part time jadi RA. Pastu sambung lg phd dapat geran utk tampung diri sendiri pulak. Dlm erti kata lain amek PHD sbb diorg ni bukan work material kekdahnye.

Dusuki was ordered to pay a cost of as much as RM10,000 to Hazmi.

23. 14 Sep 2022 - Former minister of religious affairs in the Prime Minister's Department, Mujahid Yusof successfully dismissed the defamation suit brought by former member of the PAS Hall of Ulama committee, Ahmad Dusuki Abd Rani. Court ordered Ahmad Dusuki to pay costs as much as RM11,000 to Mujahid.
