Untold History : The Lost Iron Bridge and Master Craftmen Dato' Yahya Awal

Sometime in the afternoon, 5th July 1889.  Johor Bahru.
HH Albert Baker and his band of Armies were officiated the Iron Bridge at Jln. Ebrahim, though to be the 1st constructed in Asia.

This remarkable structure were engineered by Dato' Yahya Awal, one amongst many wonders he built in Singapore and JB.

THE MELDRUM BRIDGE

The long and closed friend of HH Albert Baker, Dato' James Meldrum, a scotman... were given an opportunity to address his gratitudes to people of Johor.

He was amazed by the achievement of local Malays in engineering, particularly for Dato' Yahya Awal.  





THE LOST BRIDGE

Sometime somewhere.. this bridges were not to be found in local histories and antiquities.  

There are no trace of them.. and no efforts to reconstruct such remarkable features.

Now.. Badan Warisan Johor and Muzium Negara = Get you lazy asss to works!!! find me the blooody bridges!!!!!!

asalnye Dutch Pallas.. captured by British in July 1806 in India... then hauled to Singapore and renamed it to "Macassar"

budak2 yg ambik civil engineer je tau.. how to construct an iron structure in 1800's.. without nuts and bolts.. semua pasak pakai melted rivet..

and this was constructed by org melayu.. sezaman mase mat salleh construct Eiffel Tower.. using iron rivet

we can do it.. come on...

betul tue.....

w'pun bernilai tinggi sebagai "jambatan seterika" pertama asia, tapi its just a bridge.....
dah ditelan arus pembangunan....

dia ni maideen yg menyamar... psal nick lagi satu penuh keisleman kononnn.. bahase bunga2 siap dgn hadis nabi.. kt PM maki hamun pulok
