Melasti
Menurut kepercayaan Hindu, Upacara Melasti bermakna menghilangkan kotoran diri dari jagat raya yang disimbolisasikan dengan labuhan sesaji ke laut serta menyucikan arca, pratima, nyasa, pralingga sebagai wujud atau sthana Ida Sang Hyang Widi Wasa dengan segala manifestasi-Nya sebagaimana dikutip dalam artikel Melasti dalam Parisada Hindu Dharma Indonesia.
Melasti dalam Babad Bali merupakan rangkaian dari hari raya Nyepi dan Melasti juga disebut juga melis atau mekiyis bertujuan untuk melebur segala macam kekotoran pikiran, perkataan dan perbuatan, serta memperoleh air suci (angemet tirta amerta) untuk kehidupan yang pelaksanaannya dapat dilakukan di laut, danau, dan pada sumber/ mata air yang disucikan. Bagi pura yang memiliki pratima atau pralingga seyogyanya mengusungnya ke tempat patirtan tersebut di atas. Pelaksanaan secara ini dapat dilakukan beberapa hari sebelum tawur demikian penjelasan dari artikel Babad Bali.
Perayaan Upacara Melasti dikutip dari artikel Radiograf dilakukan antara empat atau tiga hari sebelum Nyepi. Pelaksanaan upacara Melasti disebutkan dalam lontar Sundarigama seperti ini: "....manusa kabeh angaturaken prakerti ring prawatek dewata."
Di Bali umat Hindu melaksanakan upacara Melasti dengan mengusung pralingga atau pratima Ida Bhatara dan segala perlengkapannya dengan hati tulus ikhlas, tertib dan hidmat menuju samudra atau mata air lainnya yang dianggap suci. Upacara dilaksanakan dengan melakukan sembahyang bersama menghadap laut. Setelah upacara Melasti usai dilakukan, pratima dan segala perlengkapannya diusung ke Balai Agung di Pura Desa. Sebelum Ngrupuk, dilakukan nyejer dan selama itu umat melakukan persembahyangan.
Upacara Melasti ini jika diperhatikan identik dengan upacara Nagasankirtan di India. Dalam upacara Melasti, pratima yang merupakan lambang wahana Ida Bhatara, diusung keliling desa menuju laut dengan tujuan agar kesucian pratima itu dapat menyucikan desa. Sedang upacara Nagasankirtan di India, umat Hindu berkeliling desa, mengidungkan / menyanyikan kidung - kidung suci nama-nama Tuhan (Namas-maranam) untuk menyucikan desa yang dilaluinya. |

Kenapa perayaan hindu begini tak di buat oleh bangsa pendakwah mereka..contoh tenguk india msia mana ada buat semua ni?...agama hindu pun ada modified ikut citarasa tempatan jugak yer..samalah macam rayakan maulud di msia tapi di negara bangsa asal pendakwah tak ada pun... |

Sebelum kedatangan agama Islam... Pengaruh Hinduism kat SEA memang kuat... Mostly pusat awal Hindu time tue kat Pulau Jawa... Even mostly penduduk kat S'jung Tanah Melayu time tu pun mostly penganut agama Hindu....
Kalau ler Nur Islam tidak pernah sampai ke SEA... ntah ler, cam mana life ngan orang orang Melayu time nie erk... Takut nak bayangkan  |

umat melayu anut hindu/buddha lagi lama dari islam.. dua2 agamapun di dakwah oleh india ...terfikir juga adakah org bali pun pernah berkata kalau mereka masuk islam tak dapat di bayangkan macam mana life mereka sekarang.... |

Kira cam public holiday kat sana. Memang dia orang tak kan buat apa2 melainkan dia orang gi upacara or simply lepak2 kat rumah aja tak ada hiburan pun memang senyap je (dah nama pun nyepi). The rest suma stop and stand still for the whole day. Jadi for tourist memang boring le sebab tak dapat kemana2 kedai2 pun tutup. So kalau planning nak melancong kesana avoid this date. |
