CCTV-4 news reported China's 2nd stealth fighter will get maiden flight in weeks




In the recent China's CCTV defence news channel, military specialists told the TV hosts that the twin-engine medium-weighted stealth fighter, Shenyang's J-21, will conduct its maiden flight in Sep. 2012.

He says, China will also export a modified version of J-21 (PLA naming) to international market under the name of F-60.

The fighter has been first spotted by pics from internet last month, taken during the time when it is on its way from SAC factory to national stress test lab in Yanliang, west China.

According to the official website of the transportation company who transported this fighter, the fighter has a wingspan of around 12 meter (In contrast, F-35 has a wingspan of 10.7 meter, L-15 has a wingspan of 9 meter).

Judging by the openness of this project (unlike J-20, J-21 is a China aviation industry's self-funded fighter program, and it is allowed for exportation, as confirmed by the CCTV-4 special TV talks), I would not be suprised if its maiden flight is even more open to public than J-20's was in 2011.

Next month will be an exciting time for military fans around the world.

Ya sekarang ni China punya military aset banyak yang nampaknya hasil kerja copy paste.
Tapi ingat, kalau setakat nak copy paste pun kena ada tahap perindustrian and scientific yang cukup advanced untuk absorb, learn & build komponen-komponen electronik and mekanikal yang ada dalam aset-aset tu. Ini bukan permainan Legoland. Negara lain kalau nak jadi copycat pun tak mampu.

China To Build A Larger 2nd Aircraft Carrier

BEIJING, April 24 (Bernama) -- China will build a bigger aircraft carrier which could carry more fighters, said a senior officer with the People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy here, Tuesday.

" The next aircraft carrier we need will be larger and carry more fighters, " Xinhua news agency quoted Song Xue, deputy chief of staff of the PLA Navy as saying.

He revealed that China's future carrier group will be composed of carrier, destroyers, frigates, submarines and supply ship.

However, Song denied the accuracy of some foreign media reports on China's building new aircraft carriers in Shanghai without further elaboration.

Currently, China's first aircraft carrier, the Liaoning, was refitted based on a Russian-made unfinished carrier and delivered to the Navy on Sept 25, 2012.

The Liaoning has a full displacement of more than 50,000 tonnes and it could carry about 30 fixed-wing aircraft.

Song said the J-15 still needed a lot more trial tests before operating on the carrier, and there would be more J-15 fighters as the Navy conducted more test flights.

More than one thousand Chinese enterprises have participated in the construction and refitting work of the Liaoning, he said.

Song promised that the Navy will invite foreign military attaches to visit the Liaoning.
