AAA's New Single Again A Cover Song By Komuro Tetsuya!
With their last single AAA ranked on spot number 1 of the weekly ORICON ranking for the first time. For August 18th, their new single "Makenai Kokoro" has now been announced and it has now been learned that they will also be covering the song "WOW WAR TONIGHT ~ Tokini wa okose yo movement", which had been a great hit in 1995 by DOWNTOWN's Hamada Masatoshi and H Jungle with Komuro Tetsuya.
It is the first time that Komuro himself is going to supervise a cover of his own song. This hit song, which broke through 2,000,000 copies will be recorded on the single and is certain to cause a lot of attention. While the AAA version will be sticking to the original atmosphere, it will also include the typical AAA beat-feeling, giving the song even more power. On top of that, band leader Urata Naoya and the other male group members will join in to sing as well. Prior to the CD release, the song is now available for mobile download as of July 28th. Moreover, AAA will also be taking part in the big avex open air event "a-nation".
As expected, idol group AKB48 was #1 on the sales charts this past week. Their new single "Heavy Rotation" sold a total of 527,000 copies, setting a personal record for first-week sales. Their last single, "Ponytail to Chouchou," sold an initial 513,000 copies. With these two releases, AKB48 is now just the third female artist to sell half a million copies with consecutive singles, joining Hikaru Utada and Ayumi Hamasaki.
It was also announced on Wednesday that "Heavy Rotation" topped the weekly Recochoku charts in five categories: chaku-uta, chaku-uta full, video clip, chakushin movie, and chakushin melody.
The rest of the top ten singles included new songs by Acid Black Cherry and AAA (#2 and #3, respectively), as well as Shoko Nakagawa, Choshinsung, and Kishida Kyoudan in the bottom three spots.
On the album rankings, B'z member Koshi Inaba took the top spot with "Hadou," his first solo album in six years. It sold 127,000 copies in its first week.
Iron Maiden's latest album was #5. A "Katekyo Hitman Reborn!" character album ranked #7, and Hanako Oku barely made the list at #10.
Avex idol group AAA has officially announced their new single, set to come out on November 17th.
The single is presently untitled, but they have announced that it will be produced by Avex mastermind Max Matsuura. The CD will have a title track and a coupling track, however the regular version release will contain a cover of globe’s song “DEPARTURES.”
So far three versions are planned for the single: CD regular, CD + DVD jacket A, and CD + DVD jacket B. The jacket A version will come with unannounced two songs, plus instrumental versions of each. It will also come with a DVD containing 10 minutes of extra footage: the music video for the title track and a live performance of “WOW WAR TONIGHT” from their September 12th show at Yokohama Arena. Jacket B will contain the same CD tracks, but a different DVD. The DVD for jacket B will contain 20 minutes of footage: a making-of video for their previous single “Makenai Kokoro” and a live version of “Makenai Kokoro”, also from the Yokohama Arena show.
All first press versions of the CD will come with trading cards. There will be eight different cards available and each CD will come with one random card.
NHK has just announced the performer lineup for this year's Kohaku Uta Gassen. A total of 44 artists have been invited, with an even split of 22 on the Red Team and 22 on the White Team. 5 of them will be making their first appearance on the show, including Kana Nishino and AAA.
Some early news reports proved to be wrong: artists such as BIG BANG, KARA, and Masahiko Kondo did not make the final list.
Artists are listed in Japanese alphabetical order. The performance has not yet been announced.

Kohaku Uta Gassen will run from 7:30pm to 11:45pm on December 31.
Oricon's weekly sales rankings have been released, and as reported a couple days ago, Masaharu Fukuyama's album "THE BEST BANG!!" sold 381,000 copies to set this year's record for first-week album sales by a solo artist.
Mai Kuraki entered the charts at #3, with the latest Hexagon All Stars release right behind her at #4. Elephant Kashimashi ranked #8, slightly ahead of SCANDAL at #9.
On the singles chart, KAT-TUN's "CHANGE UR WORLD" was #1 with 231,000 copies sold. All 13 of their singles have been number-ones, and all of them have also sold more than 200,000 copies in their first week.
At #2 was SKE48's "1! 2! 3! 4! Yoroshiku," setting their personal record for first-week sales at 120,000 copies. Kobukuro took #3 with their newest single. Almost all of the other top ten singles this week were new, starting with AAA at #5, followed in order by Morning Musume, Maki Ohguro, FTIsland, and two "K-On!!" character songs.
